This a guy meant for short yardage, goal line explosion and most importantly to sustain drives on HIS legs...not Mariotas. Look we have a young qb, you protect your investment early by building a strong run game. Guy is a quick footed mauler on tape. I love the pick.

Thompson was actually showing some promise late in the year but looks like he'll only be good with run blocking. With this pick, the Fasano signing and Stevens restructuring his deal, this may be the end for our favorite project haha

I'm just interested to see how Whiz uses him. Can't wait to see I-Form with Fowler and David Cobb, that's some power right there!

How about some goal-line with Karl Klug at fullback and Fowler carrying the ball :brow:

I still think you stretch the field . Roll MM out. There will be a spy on him, and there you got fowler underneath and let him rumble. Or use him as blocker on blitz pickup . Lots of uses for fowler. He and MM are going to be best friends. The guy is tough and a warrior . Not your typical FB. And I don't like Alabama. With sankey or Cobb teams can guess dump off to them. Not with fowler. He can run, catch, or block.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fowler had a few TDs this year. Fowler is a bit of a swiss-army knife. We can use him at FB, RB, or TE. He'll line up all over the field as an extra blocker, gotta protect Mariota. But, don't be surprised if he sneaks out and gets a few catches a year.

I think he will take more snaps this year than any of us really expect.

He is versatile. He is like McCluster. But the opposite. And is actually good at what he does.

Wonder who makes the roster this year

    Sankey
    Greene
    Dexter
    Cobb
    Fowler
    Andrews
    Seastrunk

Would not mind seeing Sankey, Cobb, Fowler going into next season as the only three RB's. I expect McCluster to stay because he can play RB/WR/ST. Than Andrews/Seastrunk back to the practice squad

I hope you're right. I love watching fullbacks blow up linebackers. But, I thought, FB was all but extinct in the Whiz offense.

I like the short-yardage help he'll offer but, man, I would of thought this pick was prime for trading, picking up a fifth, and getting him much later in the round or even with that fifth.

Thing is there are 31 other teams and you have no idea what any of their boards look like. We all judge "reaches" or "value" picks based on the "expert" projections. But there is really no guarantee Fowler would've been there in the late 4th/5th. Particularly in the mid-to-late rounds I think you have to grab your guy when you can.

Seems to me that the whole goal heading into this draft was to get Mariota and completely revamp the look of this offense. We still have no idea exactly how that offense is going to look but for we all we know FB could be a huge part of the equation. And maybe they had Fowler as far and away the best one in this draft class and they simply could not afford to miss out on him.

You try to get too cute and maximize value in every single round you are bound to lose out on some players.
