Once the decision was made to go mariota, not only did the offense need to be changed, you have to change the personnel to fit the system. I really like the idea of a plan to draft to help the QB. No we don't know for sure how the offense is going to look, but one can look at these draft choices and see the change is coming. Very excited about all this. Long time coming.

I wish they'd just go ahead and cut ties with McCluster. He added absolutely nothing last year. I'd much rather see Andrews or even Seastrunk get a shot over him.

One more thought. Mariota is whiz and Webster baby. As he goes so do they. They are going to do all they can to help him be successful. Hunter doesn't do his job, he won't play. Levitre doesn't do his job, he won't play or will be cut. Everyone not helping the QB should and will be held accountable. The defense is in year 2 and with Lebeau should be better. The offense needed changing .

Good point about the offense now changing with Mariota. I love having Fowler on the team but started to think about how many times we used a FB last year and couldn't think of many. So for a guy to only get on the field for a small percentage of plays despite having a "starter" label and reaching on him on him in the 4th, a bit head scratching.

However, I watched the press conference with Whiz talking about Mariota and he mentioned that he started changing some offensive schemes about three weeks ago, so in other words when they decided on Mariota, Whiz started to adapt his playbook a bit. Oregon used a lot of 2 RB sets, including the use of a FB, I don't think it was a coincidence that we then go FB very early for the position and then go with Cobb in the next round. Looks like we're trying a power run game and with the versatility of our backs and the guys we have out wide, our offense will be able to do a lot of different things. I like how these new pieces could potentially fit.

McCluster looking 2 steps slower was one of the most noticeable things of the training camp I went to last year. Bad signing. I agree to give Seastrunk or Andrews plenty of opportunities if they can get the blocking and mental parts right.

I can tell you we are going to be hell in the red zone w/ Fowler, Cobb and DGB. Not to mention Mariota. Going to be fun to watch Fowler on a play action......

What's the consensus if we probably could have got this guy in the fifth?

I honestly don't think he would have lasted into the fifth.
