I've posted this Link a couple of times but it made me feel a LOT better about DGB.

lol of course the great Deuce Wayne deserves his own "look at me" thread rather than posting in the dedicated "Grade the draft" thread like everyone else.

I went with A-. Mostly due to getting the 1st two picks exactly right, imo.

MM has the ability to be a franchise QB, which we haven't had in 10 years. Love the pick. Trading down was my preference, but as someone else mentioned, next year's QB class looks pathetic currently, and depending on Mett to be a franchise QB is way too risky.

DGB could be the best WR this franchise has ever had. He certainly has the most pure talent of any WR we've ever had (retread version of Randy Moss doesn't count). He has baggage, but I'm glad we decided to take a chance on him. Trading down and gaining more picks and still getting the player we were targeting gives this pick extra points.

Poutasi would not have been my 3rd round pick. While I like his size, I think he was big reach. Could have easily have taken him with one of our 4th round picks. I would have gone Odighizuwah or Harold at 66. Both guys had 1st or 2nd round grades by several experts.

Blackson was a reach. Don't like the pick at all. Some didn't even have him in their draft boards at all. Decent space eater but not very strong. Worst pick of the draft.

The Fowler pick has grown on me. FB is right up there with long snapper and K/P as the most boring selection ever. But apparently Fowler is very highly regarded as a FB. I've warmed up to this pick, but I'm not crazy about it.

Cobb pick was 'meh' for me. Decent pick. Wouldn't have been my selection, but I don't really know enough about him.

Mount is an unknown. But he is depth at a position of need. Not going to complain about a 6th rounder.

I like the McBride pick a lot. I see him easily making the team. He has experience as a kick returner too.

Read that last night. It's great. I'm really not worried about DGB's character at all.

I am however, a little worried about his ability.

His measurements are all a little worrisome. Small hands, short arms, low quickness, low strength. He's basically just really big and pretty fast. He does have some good stuff on film bust most of it is against Auburn and Kentucky.

I'm hoping for the best and still like the pick but there are definitely things to be concerned about. I think at his best, he's more Marques Colston than Calvin Johnson.

Yeah, but I don't feel like you see a ton of that from watching his highlights. He certainly makes plays over corners but he doesn't really look like a jump ball specialist.

We'll see. He hasn't played in a long time and apparently has dominated in OK practice so I'm optimistic.

For me going in to the draft I felt like we had 3 options:

    1- Draft Marcus Mariota
    2- Draft Leonard Williams
    3- Trade Down

I was totally fine with all 3 of those options honestly. To me any of those would make us better, so how can you really be upset with that? Honestly, the only thing that some what held me back was if we were just taking Mariota for "excitement" or to keep our GM and Head Coach then we didn't need to. The only true way for us to take him to me was if we truly believed he's our QB of the future. With that being said, I truly feel that's what we did. You really can't knock this guy for too much. At the college level, what did he not prove? Had great seasons as an individual as far as stats and being a team leader. He's grown on me through this process, not sure if it was just him or coming to an understanding that we were most likely going to take him. After picking Mariota, to me I though we needed to go grab a wideout and an offensive lineman in rounds 2 and 3. We did just that, I'm excited about the DBG pick. There's a couple of different reasons for that. One reason is the fact that we looked hard at him at pick number 33 and we were able to kick back to 40 and pick up additional picks and still get our guy. Probably the most intriguing part about us taking him in the second round is who his positional coach is with the Titans. Shawn Jefferson, he's worked with Calvin Johnson for over a five year span in Detroit. I'm not saying DGB is Calvin, but there is definitely some intrigue there. I'm excited to see this kid battle and grow hopefully. He's HUGE. In round 3 we took Jeremiah Poutasi, I'm not too familiar with him. He played predominately right tackle at Utah, but seems to be versatile enough to give us the option to play him at right tackle or left guard which is definitely our two weakest spots on the offensive line. In the 4th round we had two picks and at pick 100 we took Angelo Blackson, seems to be a good athlete for his size and a guy who could fit right in to our rotation at the 5 technique spot. At pick 108 we took Jalston Fowler, a fullback from Alabama. I heard a lot of flack for this pick, but to me if we are truly looking to upgrade the running game we've gotta have a fullback that isn't afraid to hit the hole and lead block. Alabama loves to hammer the ball, why not take this guy and plug him as the starter right off the bat? In the 5th round we took David Cobb a running back from Minnesota who had some injury issues and I think that pushed him down in the draft. I've heard he may give Sankey a run for his money early on or at least get some carries. In the 6th round we selected Louisville OLB Deiontrez Mount who could definitely fit in to our rotation early. A good athlete with good size and ability. Also, in the 6th round we took a center out of Boston College, Andy Gallik. Said to be a little un-athletic, but also could push Schwenke early on. With pick 245 in the 7th round we too Tre McBride from William and Mary who could help up as the X spot or be a return man for us.

So to me, all in all I feel like we drafted a lot of guys that have potential early on to contribute if not start for us. I think that's what you hope to draft for. I'm happy with Mariota and excited to see that we drafted some talent to put around him. Yes, we went all in on offense through the draft, I'm sure a lot don't necessarily agree. On the same account we basically went all out defense in free agency. I'm happy with what we did here.

    Grade- A
