I just want progressive discipline. That is consistent with what has been done previously and with other teams.

If I'm bitter, it is against Goodell and the owner's arbitrary "rules" which are enforced for some teams/players with great zeal and spun into nothing for others.

I'm disgusted with the amount fans that apparently prefer to give the Pats antoher pass for violations considered "probable" by an independent investigator. My disdain for the Pats in only that they repeat bending the rules coincident with their "dynasty". I find the association maddening as I prefer an even competitive level.

It is was element of the NFL I find disgusting.

The more I read the report the more I fail to reach the same decisive conclusion as the author....

According to Exponent (see section VII A) if the footballs were at 12.5 psi initially, they could be between 11.32 and 11.52 at halftime. According to the gauge used by Prioleau that means only 3 footballs were below what's predicted by the ideal gas law. Now add to that the fact that Walt Andersson had two separate gauges that differed by .45 psi!! and he doesn't remember when he used which gauge!!

The report also fails to address why the officials switched gauges when measuring the Colts footballs at halftime. It merely speculates that this is what happened because the measurements are switched. However who is to say they didn't switch gauges when doing the initial measurement? It's entirely possible that the gauge which initially showed ~12.5psi on the Patriots football would have shown ~13.45psi on the Colts footballs, in which case the drop in pressure at halftime is comparable to the Patriots (1,0psi vs 0,8psi on average). Unfortunately they only tested 4 Colts footballs, so there's a possibility the average gap could be smaller or larger, but there's no way to tell.

But the report certainly reads to me like it sets out with the intent to prove the Patriots cheated, not objectively analyze the situation. The way text messages and phone calls are presented as nefarious in nature regardless of what is said to be discussed makes this very clear to me. Also every questionable action or statement by NFL employees are brushed off as honest mistakes or not even considered (for instances the possibility that different gauges were used for the initial measurements or that the Patriots previous had balls inflated to 16psi by the officials).

The only thing that's the least be odd are some of the text messages between Jastremski and McNally. But I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Jastremski was paying McNally to help him out with preparing the footballs for the games, which apparently can take 1 hour per football and he prepares 20 to 35 for a game. The report doesn't appear to mention what kind of payment McNally receives from the Patriots but I'm assuming it isn't much. And I also find it plausible that Brady routinely signs equipment for Patriots employees. And there's nothing in the text messages that couldn't pertain to the preparation of footballs prior to the officials receiving them.

After reading the report I honestly feel like it's possible the Patriots cheated, but also possible that the deflation was natural. And I definitely believe the report was intended to corroborate the claim of cheating right from the start.

Well I for one am just glad the media is hot on this because it really, really matters what happened in a game that the dolts were getting spanked for 40 points....my goodness the score might have been 37-22 if the pats had had their balls correct (really hard to type that part, LOL). Anyways, Lord knows this is way more important than anything else going on now and our lovely media is surely doing a fine job once again.
