I didn't like either of our 4th rounders, lol.

Would of preferred Trey Flowers & TJ Clemmings, but hey it's in the past. Since we have Fowler, I just hope we use him. Don't waste a 4th rounder on a FB who sees barely any snaps. I like the comparison of Fowler to Jason Snelling, I think he can be a productive RB for a trio of Sankey, Fowler, and Cobb.

I see in our future as Mariota in shotgun, 5 typical OL, DGB on the outside, Wright in the slot, Douglas/Hunter/McBride on the other side, Walker at TE/slot, & 1 RB (Sankey/Fowler/Cobb). RB has to be able to pick-up the blitz & has decent hands. That should be our primary set, but in heavy run situations, flip to a dual RB set (take Hunter out) and have Fowler at FB and Cobb at RB. True power run game. Then, when the defense is tired... deep ball to DGB. #thefuture

Not sure if this was posted anywhere, but here's what our RB coach said about Fowler:

    CROOM ON FOWLER

On why the Titans wanted him: "We're looking for a blocking back. We think that's a key part of developing a solid running game. We want to get back to doing that, but you have to find that individual who has the size to do it, and he must also be a good special-teams player and must be able to catch the football."

On what makes him special: "A normal fullback — if you're just in a fullback role — will probably play only 12-15 plays a game, and then special teams plays as well. But this guy is a very good receiver. He has excellent hands. He also runs the ball well. ... He moves around. He can play what we call the 'F' tight end (similar to H-back). He can go outside, line up as a wide receiver and run routes out there. They threw him the football (at Alabama). So he's got a lot of versatility and things he can do."

On why he might be so important for the Titans: "We as a staff felt that there were a lot of situations in games — short-yardage and goal-line, backed up near your end zone, inside the opponents' 10-yard line, at the end of game when you've got a lead — where you want to run the football.

"The defense is going to put eight guys in the box, one more guy than you can block. The only way to handle that successfully is to have a fullback in the game — where you can call runs that you don't have to check out of. Because you don't want to put pressure on the quarterback to have to check to get you in the right run, or to use a throw when you want to keep the clock running.

"That's when football really comes down to must-run situations, and that's where a guy like (Fowler) can make a huge difference for us, especially if he can handle the football as a runner or receiver. Just having enough confidence in him to be able to call a play where he can run five yards, catch a flat route and get a first down — that can be the difference in closing out a ballgame."

On contact since the Senior Bowl: "Oh yeah, I talked to him once or twice, just making sure he stayed in good shape and kept his weight in the reasonable range for the offseason if we did get him. The big guys at fullback have a tendency to eat too many burgers, so you just have to be careful of that."

Interesting, Fowler could line up times at WR?
