Finally, some real discussion about the gauges. People act like these things are precise and calibrated. Not....

These are gauges folks, not precise measuring instruments. To quibble over 0.1s level measurements here is silly given the accuracy (not to mention the operator and level of calibration) of the devices used to measure.

Like I said several months ago, if the NFL truly wants to make this an enforceable (well, logically anyway) rule, they really need to tighten up this process.

This is all totally on the NFL...two gauges that aren't the same...only inspecting 4 dolts balls while inspecting 11 of the pats....all you pantyboy's getting all hot and bothered by this and you don't bat an eye to the guaranteed PED's going on in the NFL today and for the last 20 years. Talk about integrity of the game....or lack there of. Fix that and then I will begin to give a **** about brady doing what every other NFL QB does also. Freaking insane...but we live in an insane world now so I guess it fits.

I guess I should have specified that IF something comes of this... that's the punishment I'd be ok with.

But I still say Luck and the Colts should get similar since 75% of their balls checked were under the legal limit.

So you deny that NFL players violate the banned substances list? ESPN don't want to know....most fans are like you that don't want to know, Goodell don't want to know...none of that changes what is happening.

    Let's keep the issues simple.

Pats have been CAUGHT (deemed probable in libel speak) AGAIN violating rules of competition. They have won multiple Super Bowls during the same periods. The league has set a precedent for such violations with the Atlanta Falcons. The league has set a precedent of progressive discipline in all matters. The league also has set a precedent of punishing offenders who "tarnish" the shield irregardless of how the legal process occurs. The league also has set a precedent for suspending head coaches who knew nothing of their teams' activities on the principle of "failing to exert institutional control".

So we have a team and a coach who are multiple offenders. A QB who has been implicated in the rule violation by an independent investigator. There is a widely held perception that the Patriots receive preferential treatment by the league and that the league commissioner and the Patriots owner have a "special and unique" relationship different from the other team owners. Clearly that perception tarnishes the shield in regards to a fair competitive environment.

It is IRRELEVANT that other players or coaches MAY also break rules. That is no defense. It is IRRELEVANT that the Patriots would have likely won the game without deflating balls. That is speculation. The league has to punish Brady, Belichek, and the Patriots in the same harsh manner as they have others. Failing to do so confirms that the Patriots DO receive preferential treatment and that Goodell is yet again arbitrary in how he administers league punishment.
