While I agree with your first (unquoted) paragraph about stats, you are incorrect about Mathis. This is only his third year. He had four sacks his rookie year, and although he played Special Teams all 16 games, he only played about six games on D as a situational pass rusher. Last year he had 11 sacks, and this year, officially or according to ESPN anyway, he has 12.

And, surprise, yeah, I think it was unnecessary for the Colts to petition the league to get the call changed, and I don't like that they did it. I truthfully thought it was a sack at the time, as Adam was clearly setting up to pass, but to have it changed days after the game invites criticism. I wonder how much Mathis lobbied the team so his stats would look better versus how much the team just took it upon itself. We'll never know, but again, I don't like the move.

Like I said, I think Mathis is probably a very decent DE. However, there's one piece of the puzzle your missing; look who's on the other end. It would be foolish to think that Mathis would have even half his 12 sacks at this point of the season, if Dwight Freeney wasn't on the other side. While I haven't watched many Colts games, I feel confident in the fact that most of those sacks are a result of being only single covered by the opposing O-Line, because Freeney, and now Corey Simon, two of the top 10 (maybe best for Freeney) players at their respective positions.

But hey, no question the guy is effective. Like I said, 12 sacks is 12 sacks man. :ha:

Agree 100% about his numbers being higher because of Freeney. He MIGHT have 8 or 9 without him there, but perhaps not. And yeah, it sure helps to have a monster like the Fright on the other side of the line.

    So wait...

The refs finally get credit for Mathis getting a sack?

    I bet Freeney is pissed.

Don: Coming from you the title of the thread surprises me. I thought you were more credible than that.

    ****************************

    You guys are unbelievable.

The league reviews plays and changes stuff every week. It's not that big of a deal. Pacman was CLEARLY going back to pass the ball. Are you trying to say he wasn't? The only reason you're b!tching about it is because it happened against your team. If it was KVB and Reggie Wayne you guys would be all over it wanting the sack. Hypocrites.

BTW: Bob Lamey said when the play was originally ruled a tackle (not a sack) that the league would probably change that when they reviewed it on Wednesday. He said it during the game and again in the wrap-up. I don't think the team would've needed to ask them to change it....it was clearly a sack.

BTW (Part II): I re-watched parts of the game last night to see if GoT had made any valid points regarding the low hit on your receiver (sorry, don't recall who, but the play was early in the 3rd quarter), and the "rolling on the ground 3 times and then hitting McNair" play. Let's just say I wasn't surprised to find he was full of crap.

While I'll admit the camera angle made it LOOK like we held up your receiver and hit him low, we in fact did not. Yes, there were three Colts attempting to tackle and another player came in and hit him, he hit him waist high. The receiver went down, popped right back up and did not complain about the hit.

And to say Corey Simon rolled over several times and then hit Steve McNair is the biggest stretch I've ever heard. First of all he did not roll over at all....he was on the ground, reached and barely touched McNair. Steve fell to the ground clutching his leg. If that's all it takes to injure him he needs to hang up the cleats.

Again...I watched both of these plays several times last night trying to see what GoT saw. The evidence simply isn't there.

you admit to limited reasoning capacity and bad eyesight - so do you drive the short bus or are you just a passenger?

Notice you did not address the obvious bias towards party ponies from the refs, why would ya you already admitted you enjoy the current status.

I think its crap...how many TD's/Plays have we lost to bad calls by the refs...when the game is over its over, changing stats after the fact shouldn't happen in my opinion...the colts blew us out. Take the win and move on, its not necessary to make your players look better when your undefeated...show some class Indy!!!

I bet Peyton doesn't have class simply because he fears 'English' would be one of the included subjects.

You have to be the most immature poster I've ever encountered on a message board.

2toneblue77: As I said in my earlier post stats are changed (for every team) EVERY WEEK after being reviewed by the Elias Sports Bureau. That's been happening for YEARS.
