With Quiet Demeanor Will Mariota Be Good Leader For Titans?

Just depends how he plays. He certainly led Oregan's offense in college. We'll see if it translates to NFL.

I will get behind Mariota for one year -- We just got out of a long unhealthy relationship at the QB position -- and whoever the starter is, will be under probation in my book.... Even Zach would be on probation this year.

The constant "ONE MORE YEAR" pleas for Jake Locker will not stand anymore -- it's one and done from here on out.. You get a shot - You blow it - You're down a chip on the Depth Chart.

Now do I hope Mariota (or Zach -- whoever is under center at Week 1) perform above and beyond, get us back to the playoffs, and send that probation asterisk packing? --- You're damn right..

 

Manning had a negative TD-INT ratio his first year.. unless the guy is a horrible disaster his first year, you can't give up on someone after 1 year, if you have a lot invested.

 

Growing pains are gonna show for sure, but he'll get there.

What I'll have a hard time believing, is if he ends up being the second coming, and we dominate the division, and make the playoffs, because if that happens, I still won't believe it.

Hell, most of us will be watching the games wondering when everything will fall apart. Maybe we can lose that mentality instead of losing games.

 

Like I said, growing through 9 years of MEDIOCRE at best QBs..... It'll do that to you --

 

A lot of us went through those years too. But, we all still know good or bad isn't the end all for qbs.

honestly i think metts bigtime alpha personality might cause problems here with mariota being so softspoken.

if mariotas playing bad and metts clearly better in practice mett will be runnin his mouth and mariotas just gonne be like "well i dunno whos better i dunno who should be starting' and metts saying ' I AM BETTER I SHOULD BE STARTING' then it could be problematic. if hes playing well, it wont matter

 

In truth, with McNair's style of play we were accustomed to him being injured sometime during the season. Though we had a little glimmer of hope with Young (year 1) and Collins, we've had little to feel good about for a very long time. Locker was always a blown play away from a stretcher, Fitzpatrick should have been throwing picks somewhere else and both Charlie and Mett showed little reason by committee to feel good about anything but the potential to go 3 and out. I don't blame them for taking Mariota - he's a winner, and potentially a culture changer. I hope our O line is up to protecting him.
