Georgia has a few guys to keep an eye on, especially with our 3-4. Nick Chubb is going to be a better back in the NFL taken last year, but I doubt he leaves next year. Leonard Floyd may be a guy we target early on.

Like I stated in my Joey Bosa thread -- I'd love to get Joey... But in a sense, I hope we do so good that we're not in position to get him.

One player I'll be looking at this year for sure will be Stetzon Bair

6'8 on the end?!?!?! ... Yes, please.

Keep a keen eye out for OLB pass rusher (if Orakpo doesn't produce, that will be a HUGE NEED), NT, ILB (ZB is an unkown and last year of contract I think), CB (Cox and McCourty aren't getting any younger), RT (may still need one), or OG (may need one if Poutasi stays at RT and Levitre plays the same as his last 2 seasons), OC (we'll see how well Schwenke plays), and FS (Griffin should have been cut already...Jalen Ramsey? Yes please!). Also keep an eye on RB if Cobb/Sankey don't give us what we need.

Bosa is a really good player but like Leanard Williams, not a high need position for us or this defense.

Basically any position is open at this point. Personally, I want a big guy on the DL. We have Casey, but Hill & Pito are average and have expiring deals. Plus, we had the 31st ranked run-D last year and didn't do much to improve it. Hopefully LeBeau and an improve offense will change that. Regardless, I want a big on the DL.

#2 want is a CB... McCourty isn't a #1 and Cox was so-so. Hopefully LeBeau again will work his magic and find a stud in one of our young CBs.

Yeah, this is why the DE pick was surprising and seemingly wasteful in the sense that we have a ton of DE's but not a huge NT. But I think people are really missing the boat in not understanding stats.

While it has been repeated ad nauseum that we were the 31st ranked run D, this is media nonsense and a great example of taking stats out of context. This is like saying the best hitter in baseball is the guy with the most hits. Well total number of hits is not only a function of avg but chances. In total yards we were 31st but in yards per attempt we were middle of the pack so the total number is really a function of how much our defense was on the field and how many rushing attempts they had to defend.

From what I saw we had a few issues stopping the run. First, we didn't always hold the point and sometimes we lost contain from our OLB's. 2nd, our ILB's didn't always get to the ball or didn't make the tackle. Lastly, we had issues with our secondary's run support at times. So to me this is less about DL (though I'd like to get a Casey Hamption type NT to plug the middle) than it is about building a great LB unit. The LB corp should be the best unit in a 3-4 D as they are assigned with the 2 most important jobs...making the tackle on run plays and rushing the passer!!! We HOPE Orakpo returns to elite pass rushing form and Morgan develops further. We hope Williamson keeps getting better and that Brown can stay Healthy and be a dominant ILB. That's a LOT of hoping!!! It would also help out a lot to have a FS who was a very good tackler so when runners do get into the 2nd level, though don't run for 50 yards. Think of the Niners D a couple years ago or Pitt's in it's prime....we need to see what our current LB's can do and upgrade from there and it wouldn't hurt to have a playmaker at every level of the D....Casey on DL, ? at LB, Jalen Ramsey at S?

We don't really need a dominant CB for this type of D IF we have a dominant pass rusher or 2 at OLB. It is much better to get another dominant LB than a dominant CB. But we need solid or better players. We'll see what we have this season.
