Lab/Chow mix and some sort of Border Collie/Aus. Shepherd type mix. Both were rescues so I'm not too sure of the latter.

I can't do the small dog thing, my shepherd mix is almost too small for me at 35ish pounds.

I also don't feel comfortable with neighbors dogs either, as I've seem to have problems with at least one everywhere I have been.

My boxer is about 60 lbs. I prefer a bigger dog myself. Maximus is my wife's dog...he is smart..I will give him that. And has tons of energy...always running around and playing with things. Sort of so ugly their are cute also. You actually have to shape and comb their beards...funny.

    1) Was Prince Shembo the dude that was accused of raping the girl at ND that killed herself right after?
    2) Jon Babineaux got in trouble for hitting his girlfriend's dog.
    3) On the dog fighting thing, I don't agree with it, but I kinda get how people end up like that. There was dog fighting where I grew up. You'd see these houses with dozens of torn up pits caged in the yard. You'd see these pits in trucks on Saturday evenings. We also didn't have pets and didn't really know anyone with pets, so I never really looked at animals like that. I always thought dog fighting was wrong, but it was "normal" to me. I hadn't been exposed to a world where people treat their pets like people.

Big gap between "treating your pets like people" and the cruelty that is involved in dogfighting. Like a grand canyon sized gap.

If I ever see someone abusing a dog like that I'm likely to whoop their @$$. Or at least give it my best shot.

I have a boxer/American bulldog mix. Talk about high energy lol but I love her. She's about 1.5 and weighs 60lb. Also have a male pit. He's full grown and 55lb. He is a total sweetheart but people who dont know him are always wary at first. He's pure muscle and crazy fast and agile. Both were rescues.

My wife had a small dog when we first got together but it was like 13 and died shortly after. She wanted another small dog but I suckered her into falling in love with these two beasts.

Sure. I'm anti-hunting and to a certain extent vegan, so I'm not an animal hater. However, I'm saying that I grew up in a world where no one had dogs as pets. Taking your dogs places and dressing them and getting them birthday cakes was a foreign to me as dogfighting might be to someone else. My grandparents had a farm. Animals all served purposes and the people in the area that had pits fought them. As messed up as dog fighting is, that is what I thought the role that pits served.

I hear what you're saying. I still say that anyone who fights dogs is a heartless POS that deserves a near-death level @$$ kicking though.

I really don't know how I got to be such a dog lover. I came up in a household where dogs were always kept outside and by no means treated as a part of the family. My dogs today don't get birthday cakes and special outfits but they certainly are treated as part of the family and I give them a really good life. And I don't resent anyone who views them as "just dogs" because really that's what they are. People do/don't do a lot of things that I think are wrong when it comes to how they treat their dogs. But IMO as long as you are feeding them, giving them shelter, and basic medical attention they are living a better life than most ever get. So you're good in my book. But I have absolutely no respect for anyone who abuses or neglects a dog.
