I agree he sucks. For whatever reason though, Whis seems to like him. I really can't see him not making this roster.

I think Andrews will get snatched up for sure if we try to PS him. IIRC some team was trying to sign him off of our PS last year and that was the reason we brought him up to the roster. I'm torn on Andrews. I still could see him being a pretty good back. But at the same time I don't think his ceiling is super high or anything. I will be disappointed if we lose him but I also don't think we can really justify using a roster spot on him since we just drafted Cobb and Fowler.

Andrews is to small and too slow. Sankey is the same size and ran in the 4.4's. Andrews ran about the same 40 time as Taylor Lewan, if that tells you anything. I'd put him on the practice squad and bring him up only in the case of injury to our starters.

He's a KR too and they still have to decide whom will play that spot.
Andrews ran with the ones plenty in OTAs. I think you have to be supportive of a guy who worked his way up. He had more combined yards than any other runningback.
So maybe you wouldn't draft the guy because he's got a poor 40 time. He's there though. Since he's there, let's see why he got so many yards in college and why the coaches have liked him enough to promote him thru the ranks.
BTW Cobb and Fowler do not have good 40 times either.

    They'll keep all those RBs
Calling Fowler a RB when he'll play FB offers new roster benefits but problems in discussions like this. He can replace Battle. Cobb can replace Leon. Last year they also had Greene so nothing with the backs is unusual. Andrews was on last year's roster.
I would guess Tyson Thompson is a potential cut. He's more Fisher/Munchak's H-back than Whisenhunt's type. A former college DE, I'll always wonder what if with that guy but...I expect he'll be a Ram in September.
Every year Nicks supposedly looks great so there's not much to go on from OTAs. He's a guy you'd have to see for yourself. Nicks from the Giants would start at the 1, but Nicks from the Colts will be cut.
Whisenhunt is trying to implement a spread offense some which utlizes the F position as a key matchup position. One day a couple weeks ago, Wright and McBride played the F. The next day, Fowler and Andrews did. Walker has primarily been there when Stevens is in.
This F position is more high school type split end that moves pre-snap. If the matchup is favorable it is almost certainly going there OR he will run to the sideline to be a decoy and bring someone with him.
If they switch well, theoretically, the same defender can not cover Walker, Fowler, and Wright-not strong enough, not quick enough etc. This is like bringing back an old pro style and something players are used to in college. Theoretically it's good, golden even, but if a nickel back or safety can simply say "I got this" to the LB, it's matched just fine.
This is Whisenhunt's "I got new toys" addition to the offense and gives Mariota a very easy read. If a LB is pulled away, I imagine he'll run.
I would guess the Stevens(or Fasano) Walker combo is their way of planning to run regardless of whether the RT is playing well or not.
Over the years, many teams have utilized a mobile type F, two TE, and even a three TE offense ONLY in preseason and camp and then barely used it in the regular season. That's possible here as well. It puts one offensive player and one defensive player "on the spot" and is really ideal for evaluating.
With a slew of new RBs and LBs, it is very possible this is all just a smokescreen
