I'm not going to get into a pissing contest over who was/is better. They were both great college QBs.

I will say that I didn't/won't blindly follow whatever team Jameis Winston plays for because I'm an FSU fan and a Titans fan, not a "whoever Jameis plays for" fan.

I have no choice but to root for Mariota. Just know that you're banking on the Titans being right about him, which almost never happens.

I see quite a few throws 25 yards downfield here that are right on the money, and the receiver doesn't have to break stride with only a step on the DB.

Some of the throws from 2:20 to the end are absolutely perfectly thrown to covered receivers.

I'm a Raiders fan and an Oregon grad/season ticket-holder, so cut me some slack for being excited to see how Marcus does in the pros!

Jameis too. I hope they both take the league by storm.

Let's just say for instance Marcus is closer to Locker and Vince Young (I don't believe that btw)as a pro prospect than he is to an Andrew Luck. Number one, don't think for one moment he doesn't understand this. And number two, don't bank him on staying there for the rest of his career. Everything he does with his time on the field or away from it is to get better and improve at what he does. The time he spends on working and studying the game, I would contend is abundantly more than the other two put into it. He is not going to stay where he is at as a pro. He will improve each year.

I think the reports coming out of OTA's is suggesting the opposite of him as a player. The reviews have been nothing but positive. He is determined and he has the work ethic to get it right. I believe he will.

Late to the party, but this Orakpo interview says no more than we already knew.

We all knew Mariota was an accurate QB in college. So there's no dispute in that.

The question is, will his offense translate to the NFL? It's something we shouldn't go back and forth on, until we actually see him play.

I personally think his game will translate into the NFL and I can't wait for him to prove the naysayers wrong. An accurate QB that can take it 48 yards on 3rd and 3 gets me so excited..

I was ready to ride with Mett as the QB and wasn't high on drafting Mariota. I didn't know much about him and I liked the way Mett played.

That being said, the more I see and read about Mariota, I think the Titans may have made a good choice for once. He seems to have that "it" factor. I don't think it's a question of whether his style translates to the NFL because I think he has the heart and skill to go out anddo whatever it takes to win.

I'm excited about the season and this time I don't feel as much like it's unfounded hope... I really think the team is better and the question mark at QB is most likely answered. We shall see.

It's not as easy as just looking at numbers, dude.

Mariota was in a system that anyone would look "accurate" in.

    1. He lived off 5 yard passes, dump-offs, and screens.
    2. He had a line that held blocking very well.
    3. He had tons of wide open targets.

Thus the reason VY's numbers are a bit more comparable. Similar system. Similar cheats to seem "accurate".

In pro sets, Mariota's accuracy took a huge plunge.

Meanwhile, Locker had zero blocking, wasn't in an offensive juggernaut system, etc.

Again, you'd see very similar numbers if you merely switched their teams.

    Uhhhhhh.... no.

Even wide open, many times the WR has to slow down or come back to adjust to his passes.

I will say, Mariota does have good touch. Which is key for a QB. Those that don't have it, simply don't make it.

    But accurate? Hardly.

    48 yards?

Running? He's not fast enough to break that kind of run in the NFL.
