To be fair the Michael Sam "gotcha" is pretty weak anyways. You only said decent lol.

 

"Decent" is always a cop-out, non-committal prediction. It could be said for every single player drafted. Then when they suck you don't look as bad. And when they pan out, you can seem smart.

I've been guilty of using "could be decent" when referring to young players.

Just saying it isn't exactly a ballsy prediction.

My main argument with Sam was simply that every other SEC DPoY was crazy overrated and he was the only one that wasn't? Yet people acted like it wasn't based on his sexuality.

And yeah, he's on the way to surely busting- but almost every other SEC DPoY busted as well.

It was just painfully obvious that Sam was going to be horrible... especially after he experienced the very worst combine of any prospect I've ever seen. It was truly pathetic. Guys off the street are more athletic than that.

I assure you he wasn't completely passed on until the 7th round strictly due to being gay. I'm sure some teams would've passed on him for reasons Dungy mentioned. Has less to do with him being gay and more to do with the media's obsession with gays - which does lead to a distraction.
