Why did you bring up the fact people play it for free? People do all kinds of stuff for free.

Because he is getting paid to play a game... People don't work full times for free.... that's my point. He is making millions to play a game. That's why I brought it up.

The guy has lead his team to two SBs, is a top 2 YOUNG franchise QB in the league, and is due to make $798,651 in 2015... Thats crazy. Pay the guy. If you sign a contract in FA I understand the mentality of "you signed it, you should honor it" but he was drafted in the third round and didn't have a choice. Guy deserved a BIG payday last year. I'd holdout too.

Its a game if you choose to play it for recreation, when you pay your bills with the pay..it is a job..a very dangerous proffesion.

If i was a hawks fan I'd want him to honor the contract. But, with the short career span of an nfl player, I'd holdout no question. These guys have to get the money when they're hot. You can't knock a guy for getting his. These teams don't honor contracts, why should players. People can say what they want about these athletes holding out for the money. But, 90% of the us population would hold out for the money if given the chance.

name an NFL team that did not honor the contracts they sign....

not saying it never happened but nowhere near the frequency that players feel they have some sort of obligation to ignore their word

Again, I never said it wasn't dangerous. But Wilson is still making a lot of money. I will never feel bad for professional athletes who are "underpaid" because they still have enough money to live a comfortable life even after their playing days are over

All 32 teams. Anytime they sign a player to a multiyear deal and cut him when there's time and money left on the contract. It's good business, I'd do that too if i were an nfl exec. To add to it, these rookie deals are so structured now you are almost forced to sign the deal. I have no problem with players or teams not homoring the contract, when it benifits them.

they actually are honoring those contracts. NFL contracts are not guaranteed like in baseball.

Players know this and they sign for the bonus $s anyway

I dont like it and neither do the players, but the contracts are honored
