I love The Thing, but I have to say that my favorite Carpenter movie is In the Mouth of Madness. Probably a combination of my being a huge Lovecraft fan as well as a huge Sam Neill fan.

In The Mouth of Madness is good for kicks but it is not even in the same universe as The Thing, which was a total game changer.
    Halloween obviously was as well.

I don't particularly like lists but in the Carpenter file I'd have to put Madness right about here:

    The Thing
    Halloween
    Escape From New York
    They Live
    Big Trouble
    The Fog
    Prince of Darkness
    Christine
    Precinct 13
    >> In The Mouth of Madness<<
    Vampires
    Ghosts of Mars

Well, that's why I said it was my favorite (and then gave reasons for that potential bias) and not "the best".

Still, putting Precinct 13, Christine, Prince of Darkness, and The Fog above it? Yeesh.

Easy. Madness was kind of a mess.
Children of the Corn meets Nightbreed with similar flaws.
I'm sure Sam Neil and Lovecraft would agree..

    Jurassic World - 6.5/10

Better than I expected. Obviously it can't touch the first one, but it wasn't unbearable like the 3rd movie. Probably better than the 2nd also, but I can't remember that one.

I like Chris Pratt, but he really needs to stick to comedy. Any time he has serious line, it doesn't come off as very quality acting.

Exactly what I said about his serious acting. He can't do it. He's golden at comedy, he can't pull off anything more than the occasional serious line. His serious lines come off as painfully awkward.

He is StarLord, and those are the kind of roles he should stay in.. Not Indiana Jones or any role where he needs to play a PhD type of role. There are plenty of good roles he can fit into, this role in JP kind of showed his weaknesses in some respects. Everyone has their strengths and limitations. I'll always be fond of him for GoTG.

Still way better of an action hero than the Rock or Vin Diesel.
