It's just trying to be Entourage w football players.
All style no substance. And it's probably a cheap production.

So here's four posts calling it Entourage.
They cancelled that show for a reason.

So about True Detective last night...

Did they seriously kill off Colin Farrell that quick? Since it's Hollywood, I guess he could miraculously survive, but in real life you'd be dead, no doubt. I guess he could've been dreaming or imagining it? Makes no sense to kill him off so quickly. He's the most complex, interesting character.

Entourage was cancelled? It went 8 seasons. I figured they just decided to call it quits.

Entourage ran for 8 seasons for a reason you mean. At its peak it was entertaining as hell, but like most shows it dropped off toward the end.

That said, I'd be absolutely shocked if Ballers has even half the longevity that Entourage did (honestly if it doesn't really start picking up I wouldn't even bank on a 2nd season). The characters were what made Entourage. Ari and Drama especially were such great, hilarious characters. No one in Ballers is even remotely on that level, at least so far. Rob Cordy is funny but his character just comes off as Rob Cordy playing a sports agent. Entourage did an amazing job of creating a world which was slightly over-the-top yet you could still buy into.

I have a feeling he's not actually dead. Although two hits with a shotgun, one at point blank range.... odds are definitely against you IRL to say the least. But one thing I noticed in the preview for next week that makes me think he could still be alive is when that dude said "One of my officers gets shot in a house......" and not "One of my officers gets killed in a house.....". Could be nothing but I took that as at least a potential hint that he's still alive.

Who knows though... maybe they're taking a cue from GoT.

I honestly can't even remember that conversation. I'm sure I missed a few things in the first episode just trying to keep up with the names and everything that was going on.

Yea, he can't be dead, but surviving that second shot is silly... I guess it's not any more ridiculous than MM being able to headbutt the bad guy while the dude is holding him up with a huge butcher knife stuck in his chest (and would've sliced up to his heart). He shouldn't have survived either.

Yeah sometimes you just gotta shrug and say "it's a TV show". Even occasionally with very well done shows such as TD.

HBO dramas have no problem killing a lead character early in its series (The Wire, Sopranos, Boardwalk). I'm sorry, but I don't know how to post as a spoiler.
