This event lost a bunch of interest without LA.

If only just for "the people" to have someone to cheer for. Pretty much how this place works when it comes to international sports.

What did LA in was his comeback. If he had stayed retired nothing would have happened.

I agree TT , if he had kept his ego in check he could have retained his titles. I am of the opinion that they will be restored at some time in the future. We live in strange times. As far as the tour goes , there have been some great crashes but I will probably not get excited until Sunday. Flat stages are not that exciting and the mountain top finishes are usually good. I am following each stage but it always cuts into my cycling time this time of the year. If you guys would ever do a Category 1 mountain you would better appreciate this race and yes I wear Lycra but I don't shave my legs.

My standing bet with any of the fools on this site still stands...$100 bill for anyone that can stay with me for an hour on a ride....no takers. LOL And it wouldn't take a Cat 1 climb to do it.

I sometimes think when I am about 15 miles into a hard, hot ride, " I understand why not many do this, this s**t is hard work". Cycling is not for those with a low tolerance to pain for sure.
Aside from that I am impressed with Sagan so far this years. I believe he doesn't know he can't win the tour.

Sagan is the future of cycling...maybe not for a Grand Tour win but he can do everything so f'ing well. Did 70 miles today...hot, windy, beats work however. LOL

As predicted by me in my original post...
Africa's first every Le Tour Jersey holder....

Daneil Telehaimanot takes the Polka Dot best climbers jersey. He doesn't have much of a chance at holding it for the whole race but still a great day for African cycling.

He is a talent. I hate his arrogant youthful..... I mean hope he does well. 70 miles in this heat is a good effort. I use to think it was a cake walk. It doesn't get easier, you just get older. Not exactly what Lemond said but accurate.

Paolini informed of cocaine positive at Tour de France | Cyclingnews.com

Paolini informed of cocaine positive at Tour de France
Katusha rider provisionally suspended by UCI

Paolini can contest the result and request his B sample be analysed, but cannot continue in the race.

Should the B-sample analysis confirm the positive, the 38-year-old faces a possible four-year ban, as cocaine is a non-specified substance under the WADA code, unless he can prove that the anti-doping rule violation was unintentional.

Wouldn't be many NFL players left if they, the NFL, enforced it's "anti" drug rules the way cycling does. 4 year suspension...career over. Hardy gets 10 games( not drugs but still) ...then reduced to 4. NFL is a joke....
