Well I don't completely disagree with you but this is professional sports where the contracts are signed before play. Locker got hurt a lot and he barely played but he got his money for being on the bench for quite some time. At least the nfl teams can cut players unlike the MLB. It worked out for the Yankees that A rod is playing well but even he wasn't they would still have to pay him due to guaranteed contracts. We drafted Mariota 2nd overall so we should expect him to be here 4 years later I hope and it just seems like no confidence in the front office to think like that.

I get the other side of the argument too. But as I said, every pick is hit or miss. You don't pick players thinking they won't be with the team in 4 years. How many picks have the Titans made that deserved 4 years though?

The only reason a lot of players stick with a team throughout a contract is because of guaranteed money deals.

I think Locker benefitted from going through coaching changes. He showed flashes but with the staff constantly changing, the new guys always wanted to give him a shot. Next year was his breakout year, every year. Lol

I'm sure Mariota is putting this in his agents hands. Mariota is the type that wants to play and prove the doubters. If it was his decision, he would have already signed. Dude has enough confidence to show everyone he can play in the league.

His agents is shoving shyt in Mariota's ear and his family.

I also understand to take care of yourself as much as possible to a business point of view since this is a "business" league.

Think what bothers me most about this is that Mariota's camp seems to be fine with the chance at double dipping, or getting payed by 2 employers while working for only one of them.

But if halfway through the house, you fire the general contractor/head coach and his replacement doesn't like your carpenter and wants to get his own, is that the carpenter's/player's fault?
    Nope.
Players heading into situations where there's already rumblings of firing the head coaching staff should go in with their heads up and their eyes wide open to the possibilities.

Then he needs to tell his agent to forget about it and sign the offsets.

Also, if any of you had ever owned your own business, you would scoff at the idea if paying someone when they arent being employed by you.

In fact, id guarentee you that if ypur business was forced to do so, you would be here screaming at the top of your lungs how unfair it is.

The "face of the francise" is starting off by already being a distraction. (If it continues. As of today, i could care less)

I still think itll get done in the final hour

This is akin to arguing balls and strikes. It's petty and the situation in question will never come into play anyway.
