  Just because other players have offset language doesn't mean Mariota should. LOL at people thinking he has the same leverage as a safety drafted in the mid-20s of the first round. He's leading the league in jersey sales, is on billboards, has a national profile, seasons tickets are apparently up over 20%, yet the Titans and their fans are expecting him to not use any of that as leverage to get rid of offset language?

The reason why people in the front office get the chance to "double-dip"and have a difference set of rules than it is for players entering the league is the same reason why some higher ups and CEO's in corporations get to be on vacation for 9 months out of the year. Then still make more in 2 weeks than their entry level employees will make in a whole year while working 40+ hours a week.

They're higher up the company ladder. They usually get to work and play by their own rules.

Also you have to see how large the pool is with football players. Yes, there are players that have shown to be better than the rest. At the same time though there is a much smaller pool to choice from w/ GMs, coaches and front office executives. No matter how much we feel we could do a better job, they are the ones who have put in the work, time, education and have the experience to be in that situation.

 

Is Marcus that hard up for $300k that he'll miss camp over it? I mean come on, this isn't even about money...

Because it sure looks like it from where I sit.

I don't know about you, but I'm guessing $300k is a lot more money to Mariota than it is to an NFL franchise valued at over a billion dollars.
