Champs place and pull one out. SEC would want a neutral field. They have been great, but they have avoided the bigs of the other conferences now for a while, padding undeserved rankings off of wins and losses against each other. The polls have to wait at least 4 games to end the farce, and let teams that deserve it in. The new format will expose this.

Lots of cash pushes it all, not the games themselves. ESPN is all in on SEC, others as well. money

 

Rankings really have to taken with a huge grain of salt until damn near mid season. I agree that it is a shame it has to be that way. I get sick of all the offseason hype and chest beating too.. even from Arkansas fans (read: especially from Arkansas fans). All you hear is, so-and-so just squatted this much or Joe Blow kicker just hit a 60+ yarder in practice. All that stuff is just hot garbage for writers to fill their blogs with.

I'd like to see the power conferences start playing each other more often and start pushing these smaller schools off their schedules.. yeah it sucks for the little guys but I think we could really create a new college football division with just the power five schools.

There is no way we can get rid of preseason rankings and still come up with a fairly legitimate champ at the end of the season with 130+ schools competing with each other.

No preseason rankings, a division of just the power 5, and an 8 team playoff.

Whats more, all the teams that would end up in what is now the FCS would only help to make that division more reputable. It wouldnt just be North Dakota St winning every year.

 

I like the fact that my school will be facing the champs at home day one of football, and not playing Alabama day one in Georgia! Sack up

True, but you also can't have 5 teams in the top 12 from one conference without a game being played.
