I don't think Jovian planets can exist that close to their parent star because the celestial mechanics of planet creation maintain that more dense rock planets form first, then the gas planets form from what's left. There's a reason why the first 5 planets in our system are rocky and then the rest are Gas Giants. You may say "well what about Pluto?" It has pretty much been accepted that Pluto was formed close to the Sun as the Earth, but got slung far out to the fringes of the solar system from all the gravitational chaos that was going on.

That may well be true, however we only have complete knowledge of one solar system and that's our own (and even that is a stretch since we know very little of the objects in the Kuiper belt or indeed the Oort cloud). So we can't entirely rule out that different scenarios occur. But you're right, it most likely is a rocky planet. However there's still a long way to go before it may sustain life. Remember Mars is a rocky planet in the habitable zone, but not exactly teeming with life, there are simply too many other requirements.

@Aqutis30 good points but keep in mind that our gas giants in the outer orbits have rocky satellites.

Considering the size of the Gas Giants, I would imagine after awhile they had there own gravitational pull on matter in space once they became a certain size. Look at Europa, Jupiter's gravity is pulling that moons crust apart and Io causing tectonic shifts that create volcano's that spew almost into space.
