This is really what it boils down to. Some of us consider that invasion of privacy, even if we don't have anything to hide and therefore oppose it on principle. You might also let the police randomly search your person, car, house, whatever, but I wouldn't whether I have anything to hide or not.

Would you also destroy your car before you let the police search it?

I don't have a problem with empowering law enforcement with certain privileges. I do have a problem when those privileges are clearly abused.

Tom Brady hasn't argued that his civil liberties were violated by the request. And let's not forget that it was offered for his attorney to vett the messages to only those pertaining to the league.

Yes Brady destroyed his phone, but apparently he told gave the investigators every number he texted during that time. All the NFL has to do is get the phones from other Pats employees that he texted and see what he sent.

Also, apparently Brady had transcripts of all of his texts that he gave to investigators as well ... so it doesn't really matter if Brady destroyed his phone. GODdell just knows that he has nothing, and is doing anything he can to win. Goodells ego is just as big as Brady's

Uh not quite. They needed the phone to corroborate that Brady was truthful. He destroyed it, therefore there was not corroboration. that is why the league views his action as willfully obstructing the investigation.

The league didn't take the "Great Tom Brady's" word that what he offered was complete and accurate.

Innocent until proven guilty ... And the NFL has proven nothing. If the NFL wanted to go after Brady for this, they really should've waited until they had a better case against him. For now, there are just too many holes in the NFL's case.

The NFL has no proof that Tom Brady (or anyone) intentionally deflated balls below the legal limit.

The NFL also does not currently have an understanding of how weather and playing effects the pressure inside a football over the course of the game.

The best the NFL could come up with was the Wells report, which really couldn't prove anything.

Now, this phone is the ONLY thing they have to hang on too, and they are just barely hanging. They are trying their hardest to divert attention from the lack of evidence.

The NFL has NEVER needed proof. It's all about "Protecting the shield" which in reality is "protecting the wallet". It's business as usual for Goodell, as arbitrary as he always has been.

Brady played this like he could beat Goodell and his way of doing things. Brady is learning that the league wins. Always. Because its about money.

If Brady wasn't such an arrogant douche, I'd feel for him like I have felt for countless others who have fallen victim to Goodell and the league's arbitrary nature. But I have zero sympathy for Brady and the Pats because they've both benefitted for years from preferential treatment by the league. And the majority of fans are fed up with the Patriots way of receiving preferential treatment, their way of bending rules to create an unlevel playing field, and outright breaking rules on their way to championships.

I would say the league gives teams with QB's preferential treatment, Patriots just happen to benefit from this..

Doesn't the league have the records of the trainers involved? That should have everything the league needs right there... Goodell needs to stop making Brady the fall guy.

But I really dont mind, anything that hurts an AFC team is good for the Titans..
