I agree with your "reason for optimism". Obviously the Mariota hype train is running full speed, and from all the reports, he is looking really good.

However, "cause for concern" is not the RB IMO ... it is the OL. Titans OL struggled mightily last year, and we still have big question marks at LG, C, RT. The running game is more dependent on the OL than it is on the RB IMO. Also the OL will have an impact on the passing game as well ... so OL is my biggest cause for concern.

Road to the SB ...

1) Mariota
2) OL
3) Defense

Not much more to football than that.

Can't really argue with any of the points except McCluster being a "game breaker".

I don't think any of our RBs need to rush for 1200yards either. Just consistent chunks of yardage will do.

Keep the opposing D honest and keep the O in short yardage situations. If called upon in short yardage, they must execute and move the chains.

If the Oline can get it together, Sankey/Cobb should be a decent RB combo. Throw in the FB they drafted and short yardage shouldn't be a huge problem IF the Oline performs.

I thought it was a good analysis and while I'm a fan and think we can upset the Colts, I understand why you have us at #2 in the division.


IMO the big question mark is defense. Can they play together in the scheme. If the D is middle of the pack even I think we can be competitive.

 

I have to agree. The whole season will be based on the ability of the OL to produce time and space.

Agree with most you said, McCluster will be lucky to dress for game days, and many of the rookies you mentioned will get cut.

I think what he means by calling McCluster a game breaker is someone who has the potential to bust out a huge play, pass plays out the backfield included. Out of all our RB's he is honestly the only one who could possibly do more than getting 3-5 yards or the occasional 20 yarder.

Not saying he will do it, cause I honestly I don't see it happening. But him getting a 40+ yard gain either from a pass out the backfield could potentially happen.
