I hope they give him a couple more drives and let him throw it some, everyone knows the packers run defense sucks..

 

He'll get some reps, they need him ready week-1

 

I don't think he is lock down worth a second. I do however think he is worth more than a fourth. I think ultimately his value may potentially be between a 2nd and 3rd. Likely a team will give a third that could potentially become a 2nd based upon performance.

I only say that because even people outside of us Titans fans put Matt pretty much in the 2nd tier of rookie QBs that started last year (behind Bridgewater & Bortles but not that far behind Carr). He is a tall, big QB, with an extremely strong arm. We all know he has his problems, but when you draft/trade for a young QB you trade on potential ceiling.

Considering the O-line woes we experienced last year (injuries & inconsistencies), who's to say he doesn't look considerably better behind a better offensive line, running game, and stronger defense?

Granted you can make that argument about any player, but to my point, I still don't think you can truly judge Mett based on the performance of the team from last year. Love him or hate him, last year can't really be a solid assessment considering the freakish year the team had with injuries up front causing a snowball cluster f*** effect across the board.

That's just my opinion though...

I don't think we could trade him now because teams are still trying to determine what they have. Either way I think he is a titan this year regardless. What would be interesting to me is if he is deemed better than the 2nd tier QBs coming out of next years draft. Might be able to find a team willing to trade a high mid-round pick in that case for what they deem to be a better player already with some experience.

 

He needs taller WRs on top of a better line, defense was fine til he came in and gave the ball right back to the other team. Mett has issues, hence the Mariota pick, no one is dumb enough to give is a 2nd for that

 

We need depth on so many parts of this team, that a backup QB isn't something that is going to get us over the hump. We have at least 2, possibly 3 spots on the line that need replacing. Another spot or two on the defensive line, potentially another spot at ILB, and another at corner.

Our backup QB isn't going to be in the position to save this team.

 

I don't think we'd get a 2nd, and I wouldn't trade him for less than that... just to clarify my earlier thoughts more.

That said, I'd be hesitant to trade him at all because of 2 reasons. We don't know if Mariota will be any good. And we would probably just waste that 2nd round pick on some bust anyway given how poorly we usually draft.

Mett clearly has some talent.

 

I mentioned this the other day when Geno got clocked. Jets bringing in some guys who haven't played in years. Mett would be a much better option for them IMO. I'm not sure what they could get for him but at this point of the year they'd likely want a player(s) rather than picks for next year.
