Thats right, only became a Jake Locker fan after I figured Munchak out, that was dumb to go and do. Somthing about getting a new coach was exciting, thought he'd do a good job with his kind of guy

Idk what Mariota has to do with me liking Locker.

Are you suggesting I can't identify a good QB? Cause I'm pretty sure most of the QBS I go out on a limb for have done pretty good. Last 2 years I've been campaigning (in chronological order) for Bridgewater Garoppolo Locker Mettenberger Rivers Mariota to be the Titans QBs. If we had a better option than Locker I've always been open to it

Him playing all 16 games would be a major success.

I'll say 3,5oo yards, 20 total TDs, 12 total turnovers.

He's a rookie and of course, it's pretty tough to predict. If the Titans lean on the run game then he could have Russell Wilson numbers from his rookie year. If we're playing from behind every week and decide to have Mariota fling it almost 40 times a game, he could put up Luck rookie numbers. I think we have a good one, so don't really care as long as he remains healthy.

Yeah, I hope the O line will allowing him to play all 16. He was pretty durable at Oregon so I have faith of him staying healthy all season. Hope we can figure out who will be the guy at RB, having a run game would be very helpful and I only have faith in Cobb as Sankey hasn't shown much with the exception of the Rams game.

Mariota looks like a real QB. He may be the best QB we've had since Mac9.

My prediction is that we'll never see it and his career may tank quickly. That is because the rest of our team is so bad. We may have one great T, a good G, a good TE and a great slot WR. But everyone else is about the worst at their position for a starter.

Then it only gets worse when we look at the defense. We have Casey and... and? We are going to get eat up on the run, the secondary won't matter. They'll get beat because they'll all have to cheat and play run defense.

But that's not the worst. As the coaching led by Whisenhunt is bound to be awful, but it's really the talent building by Webster and Whisenhunt that will continue to doom this team. 3rd most cap space going into the season. That would be great if we had lots of quality players we need to extend, like Wright, and.... and?

We just haven't done enough roster turnover to compete at all yet. Will we continue with Whis and Webster because Mariota gives then one more year, and if so does that mean another wasted year of Mariota development leading to a total team rebuild in his 3rd year (assuming he stays) and how will that work? Will their be solid enough ownership in place that we make competent draft selections that help build a team and do we get a true head coach that can lead?

So my prediction is long term doom and gloom. And I don't even think it will be Mariota's fault. I hate to say it or think it but that is my sad prediction.

I hope all of sudden 5 players light switches hit and Orakpo and Cox make a significant difference to the defense as well as LeBeau. I just think we need some much player turnover just to eliminate the prior culture of this team. Craig Stevens, Levitres, Griffin, and a lot of other players just need to be gone.

But I'll be there watching us make Daniel Herron look like a a HoFer.

Going into this pre-season, I expected Mariota to be more like VY in terms of where he was at converting from a spread QB to a Pro style QB and I don't mean that from a playbook aspect. He needed to learn Pro style drops...3, 5, 7, 9 with and without hitches, reading defenses and read progressions while going through these new motions. Typically this leads to footwork issues when they go to throw. This is one problem area for Locker which could really affect his accuracy. And while I've seen a touch of this here and there, it's mostly been when he's tripped over and OL or one of the few times he didn't read the D correctly and arm threw it instead of re-setting his feet.

But he is light years ahead of where I expected. His drops, reads, and accuracy have been as good as a veteran and while he's made some rookie mistakes, he's way ahead of Winston and Manziel last year and ahead of RG3 too! I've been very impressed with him getting down almost all of this including the new offense along with new teammates, coaches, schemes, timing and concepts. His pre-season numbers are quite impressive.

But...it's only pre-season. And while it's impressive enough for his to play this well against 1's, he's not gone against the full wrath of NFL defenses and game plans for the most part. But Gregg Williams did throw the kitchen sink at him several times and the Chiefs gave us a lot of looks and pressures. What I took from that is...our OL and not Mariota will be the limiting factor on the offenses success.

If the OL can block well and let us have a solid run game and keep Mariota in the 25 pass range, we should do pretty well. If they don't block well (or better than they have the last 2 games), Mariota will not make it through 16 games and Im not sure Mett will finish out what's left.

But let's say we do get a solid showing from the OL and have a decent run game. My targets for him are...

3500 combined yards (passing and running)
25 combined TD's (passing and running)
    65% completion
    12 turnovers
    450-500 attempts combined

If he's throwing enough to be on pace for 600 attempts/carries, I expect him to get hurt.

I don't put wins up as a Mariota stat as the team has to win or lose!

then again, the above is fantasyland and Russell Wilson like. He may have to go through more growing pains and it could be more Peyton Manning like (rookie season) but I want to see him develop each week and get better. I'm more concerned our OL will not let that happen.

For all of Jameis Winston's issues, his OL is causing half the problems for him. We had that situation last season and it killed our offense in every way (couldn't run, no consistency and got all 3 QB's knocked out of games). Not convinced it's fixed enough to give us a stable run game and to keep Mariota relatively clean!

Those are solid realistic expectations. I'm however seeing completion percentage fringe 60% tho. Cusp this yea with all the OL issues coupled with rookie mistakes. He's a 65% guy in the making tho.

3500 total is a great projection as well. 25 TDs... Too high.

Regardless you're aware of the downfalls and Mariota has shown vet like response and resilience... It's up from here
