It would be funny, but it will never happen. This outcome was beyond predictable for a good reason, and bringing this up for an appeal would do nothing to change that. An appeal would probably get slapped down faster than this did IMO, since the judge gave the NFL every opportunity to settle this before making what was an obvious ruling (appellate court would just rule I think).

As I have been saying for months and months now, if the NFL truly wants this to be an enforceable rule they need to tighten up the testing and inspection process for this. No more counting on a manual (and probably not calibrated) gauge to deliver readings accurate to tenths of a psig, try establishing acceptable temperature conditions for the area where the balls are to be tested....etc. Maybe then they won't blatantly embarrass themselves as they did here.

Or they can just let each offensive unit inflate the balls as they see fit. It would even the playing field at least.. This all looks ridiculous on the NFL's part. I would say it's their fault for their officials not enforcing their own rules.

and getting slapped down by their own employee like this looks even worse. NFL is losing face by the day. I think their peak popularity is behind them, and it's going to be a downhill slide from here. That's why they're grasping, trying to go international. Market is at maximum saturation, the players run amok at ever opportunity, cheating scandals, concussion/brain injuries, Brady/Manning on their way out, with no other consistently record-setting QB to replace them (yet).. too much to keep up with forever.

NFL would have come out smelling like a rose if they just addressed this privately, then kept an eye on their game balls...

Instead, made themselves look like idiots. The Pats would have drubbed the Colts in that game if they had 10 players on the field at all times..

I dont think they made themselves look like idiots. Brady broke the rule. Everyone knows it.

    1. You dont know who was or wasnt following the rules. Rules are in place for a reason, no matter how stupid. (The socks rule comes to mind)

    2. Just because others have broken the rule, doesnt mean its okay for others to do so. Thats dumb logic.

Get rid of the rule all together so its not an issue anymore. I dont care if the visiting team deflates their footballs as long as we can do the same thing.

They look like idiots by getting defeated by their employee. They went out, made it public, and lost. I know goodell tries to conceal issues (Ray rice) but he decided to go after Brady, and it 100 percent backfired.
He should have confronted the pats about this, gathered rock solid evidence, and only went public if they absolutely refuse to comply. But instead, it seems like he jumped the gun. most big decisions he makes backfire.

He publicly tarnished a sure fire hall of fame player, and didn't do himself any favors in the process. Not that Brady isn't a sleaze, and guilty. It's puzzling why he would let Ray Rice slip, and fall down hard on TB.
