53 man roster...you must be joking!!!

    First, the obvious problems. They only have 8 OL covering 5 starting spots with Meredith backing up both LT and RT? Meanwhile, we have 5 TE's covering ostensibly 1 TE spot. Why do we need to be 5 deep at TE but less than 2 deep at OL? Not good. Also, Fowler could play TE so we really have 6 players who can play TE. Even if we live in a 2 TE formation (which would make me drastically consider why we drafted Fowler in rnd 4) that's 3 deep at BOTH spots!!!

    And why 4 WR's with one of them being Hunter whos had difficulty catching a cold at times. I thought our WR corp was one of the deepest on the team and pretty talented. Cut Nicks and McBride? Ugh! Wright and Douglas can't get hurt...nor DGB!

    Also, 8 DL for 3 starting spots? Nearly 3 deep at all 3 spots. At least all of these guys can play and play well. I would definitely have looked into trading one of these guys for OL help.

    The thing that MOST puzzles me is that Fasano and Stevens did not look good blocking in pre-season games. Both got beat way too much for my liking and Stevens is making a lot of money to not be better. Fasano was just signed so we knew Webster would never cut him. I thought we needed to cut Stevens or Supernaw or both so we could keep Stingily because we need 2 backup tackles to protect our QB. Nah...they'd rather have a 5th or 6th TE type player.

    Just when I think Webster does something good (trading Levitre), he takes 2 steps back! Hope our PS gets filled with the guys who SHOULD have made our roster and we don't see a few Lagarrete Blount type players eating our lunch on other teams!

    Thoughts?

    I was surprised we went with 8 OL instead of 9.

    I'd assume this isn't the roster we're going to start the season with though.

    5 tight ends and 4 wr is just crazy. Also why do we need 3 qbs? Cut clipboard and the cluster, supernaw staying makes no sense unless they think they can deal a tight end.

    There must be something else coming? a trade maybe? can't see them going with 4 WR's into the season especially with 1 being a rookie and another being Hunter,he's inconsistent still.

    Read earlier that we kept 4 WR's at initial cuts last year. Guess we will be looking for a FA? Expect some to make it back to PS?

    I'm assuming we'll see Wright/Fasano/Coffman in the slot a lot, thus explaining why we're only carrying 4 WRs?

    The TE position def sticks out especially after hearing of the release of Nicks. The team is need of skill players. Vets who can make a difference between a team that makes and misses the playoffs by a small margin. So the rookie quarterback was important at the draft when executing all offensive game plan. Did it come into consideration when releasing Nicks? He could have really helped and been a stabilyzing force for the young guys.
