To all the Pre-Draft Mariota Haters

It is, but its a great sign if things to come

It is too early but Titan fans have not seen this or been this excited in years. I have not been so happy since McNair days.

This 1st game is a lot more excitement and buzz than what Mett has ever generated. Just so crazy to see Titan fans talk smack and think Mett is the answer and Titans "wasted" the pick. So, what now, still believe in Mett as the guy? I hope not.

I work sales and this year I have traveled to; Chicago, Minneapolis, DC, NY, AZ, and San Diego and I always wear Ducks gear when I travel. Everywhere I've gone people always comment and talk to me about MM8. The buzz is real, he's generating lots of attention and fans to Tennessee and I welcome the support.

 

VY had some moments as well, that made many believe he was the real deal.

Mariota needs to have sustained success for years, to really turn this franchise around and bring back the fanbase to year 2000 intensity.
Happy with how he played today. Have to take everything one step at a time.

I'm a fan already, but I'm not jumping on the hype train after 1 game, even if he threw 7 TDs today. NFL is about staying healthy and sustaining success.

I'm not buying an 8 jersey until we make the playoffs with him.

As someone that hated the pick but also someone that is loving what I'm seeing from Mariota, I'm going to tell you this:

Calm down.

I hated the VY pick more than anything and do you know what happened? This:



And everyone was so sold. All I heard was "what now?!"

Granted, I think Mariota's debut is waaay better than anything showed in his rookie season, understand how the NFL works.

Cam Newton looked astounding his rookie year and hasn't since.

VY won rookie of the year then imploded.


The NFL is a beast. What happens when they take away the short passing game? Can Mariota still look good? The slants were killing the Bucs all game, but that wont be there every week.

 

I have been waiting on this day for months. I am surprised we did so well as a team, but I had no doubt that Mariota was the better pick over Winston. Even if we lost I think Mariota is a better pick for the Titans.

I wonder, if the Titans would have had the first pick, would they have picked Winston? I don't think so.

The Titans have many good years ahead of them, assuming Mariota doesn't pull a Locker and stay hurt.

Way to go with the NFL record of 4 TD's in the first half by a rookie Mariota.

Still worried about MM and fumbling. Fumbled at a high rate his whole career at Oregon. He constantly has the ball in one hand, regardless of whether the pocket is collapsing or not.

Great game today though. Literally couldn't have asked for more.

Are people overreacting? Sure. Should we check our expectations? Sure. But let's be real here and stop with the VY comparisons. Mariota looked more like an NFL QB in his FIRST CAREER GAME than VY did in his entire career. VY got by on pure athleticism for a minute but he never had half the poise or accuracy that Mariota displayed today.

Quit with the wet towel routine. Let's just be happy and excited for a change.
