Just saying, VY had some moments that made us believe, his rookie year. That's the only comparison. Passing skill, obviously no comparison. It was a response to a post about not being this excited since McNair. There was lots of excitement in VY's first few years.

He couldn't do that consistently for seasons, and that's what it takes.
We see people flake out every year after hot starts. RG3 comes to mind. Foles had an incredible game last year, but he so far, is not that QB every week.

Titans have got me gun-shy on predicting anything good to last.

Marcus looks very promising. His style of QB is a little more prone to injury. So far, very happy with the pick. Picking Winston would have jeopardized my fandom.

I tbought Mett would be serviceable while building a team. 8MM gets drafted, I'm cautiously optimistic. I mean, what am I gonna do?...he's been crowned our new guy. After seeing him for 3 quarters today I am QUITE impressed and see what was missing in other players. I don't expect boatloads of wins like that butI don't see myself throwing rubber bricks at my tv because of him.

I was in the 'trade the pick" camp, then got over that after draft night, I have been on this board for awhile, and the debate over MM (with exception of @520 , who I think may have just been trolling at times) was not really what I remember Locker debates being.

He looked great today, no doubt, but I also have wondered how he will react to when teams game plan for what they saw today. Those quick slants will likely not be so wide open in the near future, for example. MM is a rookie, and I still expect many rookie moments ts from him this season.

What I was most impressed about today was his accuracy and quick motion...those are great to see at this stage.

As I said in another thread I am very encouraged by what I saw today, and am glad that I was wrong on draft day.

You know I was one who went on the record saying that I didn't particularly like either of the two QBs for the Titans in the draft (probably would have jumped ship if we drafted Winston). Was in favor of trading the pick because I felt we had too many other holes to feel as the team is talent deficient. Was bummed out after the draft as a result but said as a fan I would stick it out (plus I thought Zach deserved a chance to start with a better team around him).

However, after watching Mariota throughout preseason I quickly came around. The coaches made the correct decision in drafting the kid. I'm excited to see where he can take this franchise. His accuracy has been a really been impressive. I say this time and time again, QBs with elite arm strength but scattershot accuracy can only go but so high in today's NFL. IMO accuracy is best and Mariota is ACCURATE! What has been a pleasant surprise though is his arm strength. I knew he had good arm strength, but in yesterday's game it looked great!

Love what I'm seeing out of the kid. Accurate throws, great arm strength (knows how/when to vary his throws), intelligence, awareness, and poise. Can't wait to see next week's game...

Only time will tell and we can't let one game go to our head regardless of their previous year ranking. However, so far so good. #OnToTheBrowns

Not when they start out like that. He's been ahead of the curve since he arrived in Nashville. If you couldn't see that Sunday, you must be a "glass half-empty" sort of fellar. :)

Whisenhunt gameplans to take what defenses give us, and with the Tampa 2 defense, that is largely the middle of the field.

Nice try to twist my words into something entirely different. I've ALWAYS been in favor of Mariota, even last year if he decided to enter the draft then.

As for Manziel or RG3, I just said that IF the Titan's were dead set on taking L. Williams or trading, it wouldn't hurt to get Manziel or RG3 thrown into the deal. The Redskins picked just a few spots behind us, so that would have given the team the ability to get the Williams + RG3 + an extra pick or two, to boot. That's smarter than just taking Williams at No.2.

As for Manziel...again, we're talking about IF the team was dead set on making a trade or taking Williams, they could have gotten the 11 + 19 plus Manziel TO COMPETE WITH METT. The jury is still out on Manziel...he's shown some flashes in the preseason, but even in college, Mariotta was always a better QB overall. That's why I stuck by him as our pick, and hoped we wouldn't trade out of it, regardless. I kept saying he was a taller, faster version of Russell Wilson.

I have been watching Mariotta since kindergarten and he was amazing. The kid could take play dough and make shapes the other kids could only dream about AND he could then re-shape it exactly like the original and accurately put it back in the can. So I don't want to hear any crap about who was pulling for him first.

I never hated Otto... EVER... (well, maybe I did root against him in Nat'l Title lol)

I only wanted our #2 to be a defensive player.... I'm grateful they didn't listen to me lol.... Mariota's my favorite player -- that's what you call ironic lol
