When will Mariota surpass them?

True, but that goes both ways, as the year goes on he's going to get more comfortable/smarter....

Reality check: only 3 QB's have thrown for 3 TD's in 16 games. Manning, Brady and Marino. Its very unlikely Mariota does something that impressive in his 1st year in the league..





But it is possible....

 

Beating a dead horse here but yeah, I think he could if he weren't getting wrapped up 7 times per game. Maybe the coach could talk to the O-line and ask them to maybe protect the QB? I dunno, maybe I'm just being silly.

 

Take into account rushing tds too

 

The o-line excuses are overblown and getting REAL tired.


He looked like sh** this past week- and protection wasn't the reason for most of it.

Protection is exactly why he looked bad at times. When he gets a clean pocket he is flawless, literally (see TB game)

Was protection bad? Yeah. Would it have mattered? No. He was awful whether he had time or not.

The Titans did not have the same gameplan as they did Against Tampa's D. The Browns have a completely different defense than Tampa. It was Mariota's first NFL game against a team that was blitz heavy and good at disguising what they're doing before the snap. He actually went from being pretty lost early, to getting somewhat comfortable by the end of the game. Seemed like he was learning how to deal with what the Browns were doing fairly quickly for a rookie imo.

 

Only if our defense holds the other team to less than.....not with our current CB play. We need Mc Courty back soon.

 

Part of that was due to a new defensive look... 3-4 defense.

Then you have bad play calling, an OL that can't block, and receivers that can't get open.

I'd say you're just hating for the sake of wanting to be right at this point. I thought Mariota was a bust (if he didn't end up in the right system) before the draft. It appears I was wrong. We have a long way to know for sure, but I feel like he could throw for 4000 yards and 30+ TDs with less than 10 INTs and you'd be focused on only the bad.
