Seattles line might be worse than ours, but their is no way his floor is Russell Wilson. That has to be one of the most homerific things I've ever heard.

What separates the marginal QBs from the good and great ones is the ability to adapt. So far, the coaching staff seems to like what they see.

Back when Vince Young had completed his rookie season, this franchise and the fans had pretty high hopes. But I got some shade thrown on that from an interesting source. I had the opportunity of meeting Michael Griffin right after he was drafted but before camp started that year. And he told me that he was wondering what VY was going to do when defenses figured out that he did the same move before he took off and ran the ball...and he always ran the same direction. He'd know that having defended him in practice at the University of Texas.

We all know the end to this story. NFL defenses quickly figured out that neutralizing VY meant limiting his ability to run and extend the set of downs (i.e., what Michael Griffen described). Once that was taken away, he had to beat you by passing the football. And VY didn't have the football IQ to adapt his game for the needed accuracy (among other problems). One of the primary reasons why we drafted Mariota was that the coaching staff believed he could adapt...first to the Pro style offense and then continuing to adapt as time went on.

    We'll see.

Well I'm a Mariota homer. But also willing to call a spade, a spade. I've been pretty upfront with my thoughts of him to thus point.

To me, Russell Wilson is a by product of the system rather than being the main component in making the system great. For instance, Peyton Manning to his system over the years. Tom Brady to his system. Andrew to his. The system has caused of a lot Russell's success. The faith the coach and gm have put into him is a big reason for his success. I personally think he is overrated as a player and that floor you are claiming he has isn't 'that' high. And if Mariota never had that floor he should have never been taken number 2. I think it's a very achievable mark and eventually surpasss it in time.

Well you have a really low opinion of RW, that's a completely different argument. In that context I guess his floor being that is realistic.

That being said, Wilson is at least a solid starter to you right? I don't think Mariotas floor is that. I think it's a whole lot lower.
