If Mariota continues to struggle how long till Mett?

    The fact that someone added fuel to this thread is ridiculous. Smh , mistakes sure but Mariota is not the reason why we lost this game.

    I don't think he should right now either. People seem to think that this thread is titled "Mett should be starting".

    I think if we continue losing and Marcus isn't getting it done then maybe try a few games with Mett back there. This isn't a situation were the backup is an old journeyman with no upside, the backup is another high potential sought after prospect.

    yup. He saw mariota too. He saw there was no chance he could make it. Just launch it towards mariota. What's the worst that could happen?? That made me so mad.

    Show me a thread where anyone is calling Mariota a future HOF'r, besides the whole silly cleat thing that JCB started? I have not been real active on this site lately, but I have not seen anyone seriously saying this at all. He is a rookie, he shows some promise, he has issues with ball security. I like what I see so far, but there is a long way to go for me to think that he is a star. That is pretty consistent with what I read here...some are more optimistic, but not much.

    You can't be serious with this garbage...

    Outside the 2nd int, MM8 played pretty good, kept the ball moving on 3rd downs. We didn't see this last season when Mett was playing. In 3 NFL starts we've seen progression and improvement. It's a learning process and I think most would agree we have our guy for the coming years.

    In all seriousness, I thought Mett earned the right to compete for the job before Mariota was drafted. The FO didn't for some reason or another. That's the thing that bothers me about the guy. The organization had Mett in the building for a year. Watched him prepare, work, run practice as a starter and go through half of an offseason. They decided to go with an unknown any way.

    Tells me all I need to know. And if I'm a prospective team looking to trade for him that is a red flag.
