With an extra week of preparation for the Bills what do y'all feel like Mariota needs to focus on to improve. I see the bills giving us the same test the browns gave us. I'm confident that mariota has been working diligently to prepare for this game against a top defense. I think the number one thing Mariota needs to improve is his pocket awareness, and feeling the pressure before it consumes him. I think it's just going to take experience and getting use to nfl blitzes. Another area he can improve upon is seeing the safeties especially when he is under center , which again is something he will learn from experience.
I'm not too concerned about his deep ball, we are not built to make splashy plays like that yet. As long as the offense stays on the field I'm fine.
Honestly at the end of the day it's not mariota I'm concerned about. It's everybody else that was apart of the 2-14 season.

I'm more worried about the defense giving up a long bomb then I'm about Mariota

Agree. Trust the wheels and take off . I watched so many non scrambling qbs this weekend take off and run when the pocket started to crumble. They were gaining a solid 5-10 yds a pop. In my head I was saying those 5-10 yds are easily 15 yds plus if Marcus Is running.

Yeah, D is what lost us our last 2 games ... we just can't NOT give up a couple of big plays. Hopefully getting McCourty back will be the boost we need on D.

But from MM ... I would say, just not holding onto the ball too long. I think a lot of his sacks against the Colts were his 0wn fault. He needs to get that mental clock adjusted to the NFL. Not a big deal, he is a rookie and it just takes experience.

You keep forgetting that Marcus is not football fast. He's got good top end but he's not very shifty or quick.

What are you talking about? HAHAHAHA
Ok, he hasn't taken off on a run much in 3 games but you saying he's "not footall fast" is ridiculous. I watched him over the years and trust me, he's shifty and quick. He's not RB quick like Shady McCoy but he's quicker than say 99% of the starting QBs in the league

funny how people complain about MM not running enough ... before the season started, I think most people were afraid that we would rely on his legs TOO much.

Football fast has nothing to do with taking off and gaining yards. I watched Alex Smith, Andy Dalton, and Ryan Fitzpatrick all of who are not "football fast" or shifty for that matter take off and gain positive yards when things went sh*ty. Sure it helps but it's more about being smart and doing it at the right time. You think Locker was shifty or had more "football speed" then Mariota?? Locker just never had the smarts to slide but he took off when needed. Aaron Rodgers is not shifty or a speedster but he knows exactly when to pull it and run. Now expirence comes into play with him but Marcus will get to that point . Marcus has plenty of "football fast" in him to be a dual threat in this league he just needs to get comfortable doing it.

Yup, he has proven he can be a pocket passer, now people are mad that he's not running. Can't win with our fan base. Any bad game, mistakes, etc some automatically will call for Booger eater Mett.
