Every week Chase Goodbread does an article on which teams have credentialed for college games. I am sure it is not an all inclusive list; but he does a good job of listing teams with talent that will be in the coming draft. Thus far this year the Titans have not been credentialed for ANY of these games. I know it is early in the season, but this really bothers me. It seems as though with our team in straight up rebuild mode our scouts should be everywhere looking for talent. Maybe I am making too much of this; or maybe I missed an article where they were listed. However, I sure expected to see our scouts mentioned much more this year. Considering all of the holes this team still needs to address. Last year as I kept tabs on these articles I noticed we were not listed often as well.

Am I making too much of this? Is our team not doing enough homework? Maybe Goodbread is not listing us due to lack of respect, however the Jags and Bucs are mentioned often. Does this make anyone else irritated/wonder about our scouting team? The scouting team is led by the GM. A guy that SHOULD be on a hot seat, should really have these guys everywhere digging for talent IMO.

Not trying to be a downer this early in the season & our team is looking better; but I really wish I knew this team was still aware we expect more. A new QB is great, but there are a lot of areas that still need attention.

is there some sort of scouts must 'check in here' policy or something?

I agree with you that the Titans should be heavily scouting the NCAA. I just cant believe that the Titans are in fact ignoring the NCAA. Has to be something with the process this Goodbread uses that keeps the Titans off the list

The way I understand the NFL teams ask for credentials to be close to the action. Not sure if its in the stands, on the sidelines, a press box or what. He gets his info from the teams. They tell him who has asked for entrance into the game. That's my understanding at least.

I really hope it is an oversight. Because this team needs to be involved and active with the players coming out.

I think it's too early to be concerned about this.

They can watch film of all the games right now... And they'll probably attend the bigger games later in the season.

I honestly don't understand how this old school method of travelling to games to watch them helps scouting at all.

I would rather our scouts get full game tape from as many viewing angles as possible and scrupulously pick it a part. Much better time spent then travelling on planes and wining and dining.

I'd be surprised if any NFL team wasn't actively scouting from the start of the college season til right before the draft.

Of course, I don't know how it works... But I'm sure they don't pay scouts just to watch a couple of tapes and go to a game or two. I'm sure its a long grind of constant evaluation from start to finish.

I understand & agree with what you are saying about watching tape. However, there is great value in being at the game IMO. If a player misses an assignment and loses it on the sideline that most likely won't be shown on tape. If they rally around a guy who is having trouble that most likely won't show up on tape. Then there is the conversation that can take place with players & coaches. I know tape is very important & can reveal things you will not catch at game speed, but I also see a lot of value to being there and experiencing the players attitude and emotion.

agree 100%. the technology these days and all the various videos you can get, do you really neef to be at a live game or practice to be able to tell how good someone is? It's kind of like watching games now, you see everything on TV and get good analysis whereas if you're there live you miss things.
