One thing I don't get with Mett is how people act like he was terrible in college. He won a lot of games and had good numbers in a program where quarterbacks generally don't put up good numbers.

 

He also had a bomb squad and didn't win anything, some would say his college career was a let down

Did you watch that team? They mostly just ran the ball and threw screens. If the defenses played well, they won. If the defense played badly, they didn't.

 

No, but I fail to see the relevance of this question. Mariota clearly lost something when he got hurt. At this phase of his career his legs are very important. As he gains experience that may not be as much of an issue, but now it is.

While RG3 was more dependent on his legs, this situation sort of reminds me of his situation a couple of seasons' ago. Why risk it? He is a rookie on a team going nowhere in a hurry....let the knee heal IMO.

That said, I have zero comfort level that Whis will look at anything beyond his own self interest at this point. Nothing that he has done prior to this with the Titans gives me any reason to think otherwise. Hopefully I am wrong...

 

With Mariota ailing it would be best to sit him instead of risking further injury. However like you said he'd be a fool to play Mariota but he is an ignorant head coach so i wouldn't be shocked if it happen. Best bet would be to let Mariota heal and play Mett at QB.
