The problem is you and most fans look at players like they are Madden players with a certain rating but it doesn't work that way. Take Oher as an example. He looked completely lost playing RT for us so we cut him. The Panthers signed him to play LT and he's been decent for them. Levitre isn't a world beater but also is playing much better with the Falcons than he did with us. So as a Titans fan we think these are players that are no longer starters but when they are playing decently on other teams, that's a serious reflexion on our coaching staff and the positions our coaches are putting them. Translated...those players aren't as bad as we thought....our coaching is worse!

So you can't say we have no players when maybe it's the coaching staff not coaching them up or putting them into positions to succeed. Asking Poutasi to block Watt 1v1 is a good example.

I also showed the draft picks we have spent on offense to show we SHOULD have a very talented offense. Since we don't...is that the coaching/scheme or the GM picking bad players. The answer is both.

You asked the question about our starting RB...but who is that? McC, Andrews, Sankey? It's s mess!!! And that falls on the GM and HC!

Dude i want to give you all the positive ratings on this reply. You are absolutely right and I am sick of people throwing the team into oh the players suck catagory. Its infiriaying. We have talent we have good players just not the players make a team....

Wrong! There is more than enough talent on this roster to get pretty darn close to reaching the playoffs...especially on defense. Bad coaching can make good players look bad. I firmly believe Justin Hunter would be lighting it up, if he were playing for the Packers, Patriots, Seahawks, Panthers, Falcons, Saints, Broncos, etc.

Plus, let's assume you are right about the talent....it is the HC's responsibility, in large part, to evaluate and obtain the necessary talent, to build a winning program. It's not the talent...except for McCluster and Sankey. Everyone has acknowledged that this team has a lot more talent than last year's team....yet our record is just as bad. What's even worse is, the talent level is much better than it was under Munchak....yet he had a MUCH better record in his first two seasons as a HC.

As a Tennessee Volunteers fan, I can personally attest to the damage it can do to hire a HC who had a losing record from his last stint. Derek Dooley came in with a losing record as a HC, from a mid-major conference. Players don't have anything to believe in, when you preach what it takes to play winning football. Why? Cause your past record keeps cropping up in the back of their minds, and as the losses start coming, they build a fierce downward momentum...it's like gangrene. After a few losses, players just start tuning the HC out. That's what happened with Philbin, at Miami.

THAT is what most accounted for Whisenhunt's dismissal.

I actually agree with all your points. You make a sound argument. My main point is that we are now on our 3rd HC since Fisher. It was time for Fisher to go don't get me wrong, but the overall roster talent started to decrease since the end of Fisher's tenure.

To your points, Whiz may have desired to fired. 2-30 or whatever he went is just out right horrible regardless of the scenario. However, in saying that we are now on our 3rd HC and after a near complete re-haul of the coaching staff. With multiple failed coaches the common denominator between all of them is the personnel departments (including GM). Hell even the majority owner changed hands.

We all know the "famous" definition of insanity...doing the same thing yet expecting a different result. I think it is crazy to give a press conference and say Webster have 100% support given the cluster f*ck that is the Titans.

So yeah...I'm not saying Whiz shouldn't have been fired, I'm saying he may have been the problem...but maybe ...just maybe he was only part of the problem given the trend of the team over the last 4-5 years. As you mentioned we invested big time early rounds on offensive talent. However, we are not seeing the return on that investment on the field. Yeah maybe that's because of coaching, scheme, etc, but I personally think it's because we aren't drafting well period. I actually don't see us ever drafting elite talent even when in position to do so. I.e. Jake Locker over Watt, moving up to get Hunter, drafting Sankey as the first RB (he won't be on the team next year). Spending a 1st round pick on a slow slot WR and actually attempt to make him our #1 wide out. The list goes on...These are things that actually support my argument that its also a personnel issue as well. I'm sure the flaws can be covered up with better coaching but the talent flaws are also part of the problem.

What ever we do PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't give Mularky the HC job after this season!

The thing that blows in all this though is we now set Marcus back in terms of growth.

I agree with some of your points, but disagree with the assessment that its the HCs job to accumulate talent on the football team. Yes the HC sets the schemes the team deploy and ultimately players are acquired either through the draft, FA, or trade that fit that scheme, but the GM and personnel department have nearly just as much fault in bad selections as the HC. The HC is just an easier scape goat. This team does have better talent than it has in the past however just because its better doesn't mean its good. The fact that its better is the reason why we are not setting another NFL record getting in point differential and we are at least competing, but make no mistakes there are many players on this team that can be upgraded big time! I don't believe players were tuning out Whiz in this case. However, I am not arguing that his scheme was winning because clearly it was not. Same as I said to Gut, I'm saying Whiz may be the problem but in my mind I think he is only part of the problem and to fire yet another HC but yet keep the man & department in charge of finding and securing talent is just ridiculous to me especially considering that the entire coaching staff was nearly turned over. The ONLY common denominator remaining between the various coaches we've had is the GM and personnel departments. I kind of feel like its time the team did something really different and go a different direction. Didn't/Doesn't matter to me if the team kept the HC or not.

My main concern now is unfortunately, this will probably set Marcus back some as now he has to learn a second offensive system in as many years. If you count the tweaks to the philosophy and system our interim HC might be able to say 3 in 2 years.
