I agree that he makes bad play calls under pressure. Thats part of the reason why i think he needed to be fired at the end of this season unless Mariota caught fire in this offense. But he can draw up schemes that can beat any defense. Can they be executed by his staff? does he know how to get players that can execute it? Honestly, probably not. But he reverts to calling plays requiring favorable matchups because he knows it works if players do their job. Our players haven't done their job and whiz has stupidly relied upon them to do so. Run on 4th-2? If karl klug doesnt trip and miss his block and the line gets any amount of push, its a td. The fact of the matter is we won't know if this offense could have taken off, and we will set back development for a minimum of one year, likely 2-3. The shellshock resulting from a mid-season firing is avoidable. Order Whiz to give up play calling duties, see what happens. This team isnt going to the playoffs either way. Best thing we could have done is lose out with whiz for a high draft pick

I remember when he got fired in Arizona, the national media basically harped about how it was a shame that he was the scapegoat for a talent less team. Same as they are doing now.

Not saying we have world beating talent. But if you take Georgia Tech's offense and make them run the Oregon offense, its going to look pretty damn ugly.

Besides, two years under Arians, what a joke that argument looks like now. The QB guru can't do anything with any QB in that state, and this guy is making a perenial average at best has-been in Palmer look like a world beater.

Being an "offensive genius" does not automatically make you a good head coach

I'm glad to see the the owners really are paying attention and had the guts to pull the ax out on Whiz. That's encouraging, maybe there is hope for this franchise after all!

This was the right move... 23 games= no improvement and a team still looking like they couldn't beat a CFL team... Sorry bro this was the right move...
