Not only that but they weren't hyped up for any of those games and they were distracted by NFL draft grades.

Maybe it was the fact that they weren't as good as advertised when they had to actually play a quality opponent outside of conference. Nah it couldn't have been that cause SEC.

It's this simple. Look at how many NFL players come out of which conference and that will answer who the best conference is. That's it. We can sit here and disagree all day.

Good lord. The SEC has four more teams than the B12 and two more than the B10 and P12. The SEC should produce more NFL players.

Is it really all that surprising that the two conferences that produce the most NFL players every year are the ACC and the SEC, two conferences with 14 teams?

The original discussion was about TEAMS. Leave it to a UT fan to have to make it about conferences. By the way... SEC is overhyped yet again this year.

You're assuming those schools win out, which we don't know because a majority of those schools below Bama don't have a quality win yet. In fact, the Big 12 schedule is just now getting good. So I really don't understand the outrage over Alabama being at #4 when Baylor/TCU/Iowa haven't really played anyone. Notre Dame at #5, imo, is more of a stretch.

Also, it's all about the money. Put Bama at 5 or 6 or put them at 4 this week and say hey we have a playoff matchup this weekend? Yeah I'm going with the latter.

Also, discussing Bama potentially not winning their conference. If they beat the 2nd toughest team in their conference this weekend (basing this off LSU beating UF) then how is that worse than Clemson playing North Carolina (worst conference this year btw), Stanford playing Utah (a solid game I'll say that) or the Big 12 not even having a title game? We need to see Iowa actually play someone worth a damn before we say that's a tough matchup and Clemson only has to play FSU this year.

I honestly don't expect Alabama to get in if Ole Miss wins out but if no one else impresses like in 2011 then I'm not sure how you keep them out. Alabama is a very good team. Statistically a top defense, the offense is still working out the kinks but still more talented than most, and they have huge wins on the road. Totally different team compared to Ole Miss weekend where the wrong QB started and they decided to commit 5 turnovers (3 in their own territory) and still losing by one possession.

But we both know it's the top teams in each conference (FSU, Alabama, Clemson?, LSU, Florida) that produce the most picks. Boston College, Wake Forest, Syracuse, and Vandy aren't really producing much. So I don't see where the quantity makes that much of a difference.
