Should teams from conferences that dont have a championship be allowed into the playoff? Should the fact that you play in a conference with a championship be a handicap?

I said it when people wanted to give Michigan a second crack at OSU and when Bama got a second crack at LSU.

But Bama won that game 21 - 0.. How can we say someone didnt deserve the opportunity when they pitched a shut out?

And its not like they had a weak schedule that year

Because there could be 3 undefeated Power 5 conference champs. Clemson from the ACC, OSU/MSU/or Iowa from the B1G, TCU/Baylor/or OkSt from the Big12. Then you could possibly be looking at a 1-loss conference champ in Stanford. All four of them should be in over a 1-loss non conference champ Bama.

Either all the power conferences play championships or non of them should.

Teams get screwed on both sides of this issue. Baylor and TCU got left out largely because of the Big12's lack of a conference championship.. and on the flip side, its a cardinal sin to lose late in the season.. A great team can get left out because they lose their conference championship.

What if, in four of the power conferences, the conference champions all have 3+ losses, but in the remaining power conference, you had four one-loss teams? (E.g. OSU only loses to MSU, who only loses to Minnesota, then Wisconsin only loses to Minnesota, who is undefeated until the championship game where they get beat by MSU).

It was my understanding that the point of the playoffs was to have the four best teams in the country compete to win it all, and just because a team won their conference doesn't necessarily mean they're one of the best four teams in the country (granted, that isn't even what really happens, since there's little doubt in my mind that TCU would have destroyed FSU last year and could have potentially won the whole thing).

Sounds like the 2007 season all over again. There was a top 10 shakeup every week.. heads were exploding in the BCS world

Ended up being a two loss LSU vs a one loss Ohio St in the national championship
