Who's to say? His coaching history is to say or lack there of. See this is my problem. People and FO will want to keep Murlarkey with an 8-8 record. I say no because I just don't believe he's the guy.

Would you choose an 8-8 Murlarkey over Sean Peyton?

Well he took over a 1-6 team so technically he would be 7-2. If he can manage that with the schedule we have left, yeah I would take him over Sean PAYTON.

The above dude said 8-8, I was just quoting him. Either way I don't see that happening at all.

I would much rather go with a proven coach than Murlarkey. I'd choose Sean Payton.

It's the NFL, we're not the only team that's unpredictable, sh*t happens. We beat the Bucs who go on and beat Atlanta which we lost too. Saints hang 52 on the Giants but we just beat the Saints . Colts beat the Broncos but lost to the saints 2 weeks ago. Any given Sunday .

Let me start off by saying this , I would love Sean Payton as a coach . I've mentioned it a few times on here and he would be my #1 guy if I was calling the shots. With that being said 8-8 to some sounds like no big deal, it's average. But if we show serious progress and beat the teams we're suppose too with an upset or two along the way then I'm all for giving him a shot especially IF we get into the playoffs. He's coming in mid season trying to fix a team that was just basically imploding which isn't easy to do. We'll see what happens but everyone's got their own opinion so it's all good.

    This really makes no sense.

    1. Why would you want your team to lose in the first place?
    2. Look at the "perennial contenders"! Where do they draft each year? Oh, that's right, in the bottom third of the round. Unless you call the Jags a perennial contender.
    3. Any competitive sport is played to win and not to get draft picks.
    4. According to your theory the Jaguars should be Superbowl bound. :biglaugh:

If Mularkey comes close to running the table and winning the division with a team that was 3-20 since last season, he needs to be deeply considered. That would just go to show it was all on Whisenhunt. I knew he was going to be that bad of a coach. I hated the Whiz hiring, I said it would set back this franchise (or if Mariota pans out to be the future pro bowl/all pro QB he looks like he could be then technically I'm wrong. So thanks Ken.)

Why choose the coach with a HOF QB, a more talented offense that just lost to the interim HC that only had 3 days to game plan against him?

Sean Peyton is overrated. His horrible choices with defensive coordinators don't exactly help his case either.

If that scenario plays out, as long as Mularkey promises not to pull any of that control freak/dictatorship crap he did in Jacksonville. I won't have any problems with him taking over the job permanently.

At this point getting into the playoffs really isn't that impressive. The division is atrocious. Turning around a 2-30 team isn't impressive. High school coaches could do it with our team for crying out loud.

I'm saying it is really easy to look like a hero when the guy before you was so abysmal that he was let go 1.25 years into his 5 year contract.

Nah I disagree with you on so many levels. Getting into the playoffs is a huge deal for us, we haven't been there since 08. It would be a huge boost to our staff, and show that we made immense progress since last year. If making playoffs is not impressive, then what is?

Turning around a 2-30 team is the most impressive thing possible. Not sure how you could say taking a team that used to be bad and making them contenders is a bad thing. What makes a coach great if it's not winning and the ability to take a previously terrible team and lead them to playoffs?

If high school coaches could do it then they would apply for the position, why would they want to stay in high school instead of making the big bucks. There are no high school coaches that could take our NFL team and turn them around into playoff contenders at this point.

What's the story with his control freak thing in Jacksonville? What the heck did he do down there, I've heard it mentioned a bunch. From what I've seen with him on the Titans, he seems like a mellow dude, hard to envision him being like that.
