Your post makes absolutely no sense. Adversity is part of the NFL, every team goes through it, some more then others. Not every franchise can come out of the gates blazing with a positive record and make the playoffs year in and year out or hit the lottery on every draft pick. Clearly this franchise has been struggling for the past 7 years. But to say that climbing out of this mess and making the playoffs wouldn't be impressive and that a HS coach could do it is fckin ridiculous. Go find yourself another team that meets your standards then. Your not the only one frustrated but you're attitude just flat out blows about the whole thing.

Sorry you feel that way. Love when people suggest to find another team. You go find another team if you're content with small gains.

I want a dynasty. I want the best team in the league for years to come. If you think what Murlarkey is doing is impressive and not just blatantly obvious than you truly are lost and I don't need to continue this conversation.

    1. Yes. There are times when it is in your teams best interests to lose. Smart fans realize this and can see that the long term future of the team is more important than a few meaningless wins in the present. Last year for example, it would have done us no good to win a meaningless game at the end of the year against the Jets, only to go 3-13 instead of 2-14, drop out of the 2nd draft spot and miss out on Marcus Mariota. That game wouldn't have gotten us into the playoffs, and only dropped us out of contention of getting a franchise QB. According to your theory you would have wanted the Titans to have scored on that last, throwback type of play against the Jets to win the game last season because winning in the present is more important than the franchise's long term future.

    2. Perennial contenders are such, because they have already drafted well, built their teams, and already have elite, game changing players. If you look at the Titans roster how many players would you consider elite? I don’t see any. Walker, Casey and Mariota are the closest we have. And the best chance of changing that is to get one at the top of the draft because this team isn’t going to overspend to get the top free agents, if they even come free. Last year GM’s agreed that there were only 10-12 elite players in the entire draft. There may be that outlier that turns out to be an elite player in the later rounds and you can find guys who are serviceable, but the sure things are always at the top. And I don’t have faith in Ruston Webster to find those outliers, he will have to fall bass ackwards into a good player like he did last year, which is another reason for wanting a higher draft spot.

    3. You didn’t watch the Bucs last game last year did you? It was obvious to anyone watching that they completely mailed it in and lost on purpose. Heck they even sat their starters halfway through the game! Teams may say they don’t play for draft position, but that’s just what they say. It’s not true. It’s also a common occurrence in the NBA as well.

    4. The Jaguars are a terrible organization who never draft well. There’s a caveat here that applies to all teams, when you get a good position in the draft, you have to make the picks count. They took Tyson Alualu, Blaine Gabbert, and Justin Blackmon in the top 10, 3 years in a row. Imagine if they had drafted Earl Thomas, JJ Watt, and Luke Kuechly with those picks like they had the opportunity to do. But that further proves my point: THE ELITE/GAME CHANGING players were there for the taking, at the top of the draft and they just missed.

This team is talented. The problem was the coach. The coach was holding them so far back it was ridiculous. I don't know how else to articulate it and I don't mean to sound like a d*** but you're view is narrow minded. Think of it this way. Whiz was so bad, that literally any other coach could come in and make the obvious changes to turn us around for a win.

We are comparing Mularkey to something terrible. Of course he is going to look better because it doesn't take much to do so. That is why I'm not convinced he is our coach of the future. If we honestly win games, my gut feeling is because of the talent of this team, not really him.

My point about the HS coaches was valid because all Mularkey did was what average joes on this board have been screaming for Whiz to do for WEAKS. If we can figure out a cure for our woes how is what Mularkey doing, impressive?

Making the playoffs in the worst division is not impressive. I'm sorry, it just isn't. If we make the playoffs this year don't expect any respect from other teams or media.

Exactly my point. Anybody not named Whiz could do what he is doing. Does that mean we found our future coach? I think it would be irresponsible to claim so and that is my fear with him getting lucky, winning, and us going to the playoffs.

My hypothesis is that our team is talented enough that any coach, THIS YEAR, could probably make a decent run at the playoffs. Because of that a lot of people are content, and my worry being our FO as well.

I'm not yet. I want to invest into the future. I want to take all context into account when looking in that direction and if that is the case as it stands right now, I don't see Mularkey as our next HC and would much rather prefer someone like Sean Payton.

And even so. People like Hue Jackson will most likely be around to evaluate. I would choose Hue for his work over in Cinn than Mularkey at this point. Could you imagine what he would do for our offense?
