common sense is clearly not his strong suit.

Peyton has a chance to be a good coach, but not a significantly better chance than any of the other thousands of QBs in the NFL past and present... Then this guy is calling everyone who challenges his idea a "fool."

BEING PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY GIFTED TO DO A JOB DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THAT YOU HAVE THE TOOLS TO TEACH OTHERS TO REACH THOSE LEVELS..

not that complicated. Some of the best coaches would make absolutely pitiful players. And some of the best players make pitiful coaches. May I bring up Mike Singletary again.

Someone like Marc Mariani may end up being a much better coach than the Mannings/Rodgers, etc. There is no telling. Physical prowess has nothing to do with how effective of a coach the person will be. You have to be able to communicate and inspire. and your HOF player reputation only goes so far.

From what I've seen, Manning is a hothead to his fellow teammates, which sometimes works, if he can keep his composure. But I have my doubts.

You know as well as I do that Knoxville is, plain and simple, an NCAA town. Most folks around here don't care about the NFL. A Peyton connection trumps any kind of regional loyalty. I have been waiting for, what seems like an eternity, for Manning to retire so at least I won't have to look at Colts and Broncos ish at Sport Seasons.

I was going to buy one of the new UT Nike jerseys, but all of them have #16 on them. What about could I get one with #17? That WAS a national championship quarterback.

There was some Titan love here when they went to the Super Bowl, but it has declined steadily since then. I do have hope, though, that as Manning is retiring and the Titans are getting better, we'll see some of it come back.

Why do people see a Manning connection with this team?

The guy is from Louisiana and went to school in the state for a few years. He then went to spend most of his adult life playing for a rival team. When given a chance to be a Titan he turned it down.

Time to get over Peyton Manning people.

I don't like Manning and have zero clue how good a coach he will be.
But if for some reason he were to be hired here and we started winning I could get behind him. No interest otherwise.

I'm born and raised in Indiana. Another state with a pitched tent for Manning

At least he spent a significant amount of time in that state. Manning spent the same amount of time in Tennessee as Vince Young.
