Mason on Lewan

Jesus, is everything with you about somebody taking another dudes woman? Damn you have some underlying issues son. Did someone steal your girl awhile back and you still haven't gotten over it? lol

 

I'm not expecting him to be a HOF player right now. My expectations is to do the basics at his position a lot better. He has completely whiffed on plays the last 2 seasons. Fortunately he has cut down on the hands to the face penalties, so that's a step in the right direction.

 

Masons rant is clearly just about how he feels Lewan is more worried about his image/personality off the field than he is about his play on it.

When I think about, Taylor Lewan is me before I quit playing football. The way he talks, the way his attitude is.

Before I quit I got really into playing guitar and music. I still played, but I would make comments to my music friends who hated sports like "Yeah, I don't even really like football. I just play cause I can run fast and it's something to do."

I've heard Lewan make a "I don't really like football, I don't like watching. I just do it cause I'm good at it." Comment about a dozen times on that Titans tonight show.

I'm not saying he needs to be JJ Watt and act like anything and everything you do is only centered around football. I like the fact he is himself, but I also don't know what Taylor is like when he the doors are closed at the facility. I just hope his too cool for school/hispter like approach doesn't affect his preparation and play like it did my last year playing ball.

And before someone says "He gets paid millions to do play a game. He wouldn't approach it like that." Just because some people walk into their job everyday thinking "Man, can't wait for this day to be over." Doesn't mean an athlete might not have the same mindset. Look at Larry Sanders from the NBA. Signed a huge contract and gave it all up the following year cause he wanted to skateboard, paint, get high and travel.

Also Justin Blackmon is another example. It's been what? 2-3 years and he still hasn't filed for reinstatement? Theres been reports that he is very happy with his current life and has absolutely no desire to ever play football again.

 

I don't really care what he is like as long as he learns his position, doesn't beat his wife or cause embarrassment to the team with stupid off the field issues.
To me he seems like the only o lineman we have with an attitude, which is something that is needed. Kind of like Brian McCann was to the team formerly known as the Atlanta Braces. (Not sure if they are the Braves anymore since I can't name four players on the team.)

He also had HOF position coach. No question our OL took a dive when Munchak left.

 

He was most definitely not whipped like a rented mule every week.

I don't really see him running his mouth. As a matter if fact, either early in the season or ore season he specifically said "I'm just a second year guy, I'm not someone the o line should be looking up to yet."
I think lewan takes football very serious, and id be surprised if he wasn't our Lt for years and years to come. This mason rant is stupid.
