Well supposedly we didn't have a lot of coaches come knocking when that position was open.

And you're right, we disagree. I NEVER want a system coach who can't adapt to the players he has on his team. I want a coach who can succeed even if circumstances aren't 100% in his favor.

Even if you were to bring in the RIGHT guy this group of talent wouldn't be any better than they are right now.

Webster has had his chance. The only way I would consider keeping him is if players like Sanky and Hunter pulled an 180. The team needs to move on.

When is "competing" the gauge of a successful franchise? I think it's not unusual to expect much more.

I want Webster fired for a long line of poor draft picks, free agent additions and hiring Whiz.

But let me ask you, why should the Titans keep Webster?

Agree on the coaching. Disagree on the talent.

We have maybe a handful of players who would even start for any of the better teams in the league.

For that matter, if the weak AFC South were to put together ONE team made up of the best of division, I don't think the Titans put anyone on it except Casey, Orakpo and Walker.

You mean like Oher and Levitre? Funny how they suddenly found their talent with new teams...

I'm going to leave this discussion because we're going in circles, but I'll leave you with this: The following are definitely starters on other teams, most of them even on the better ones:
    Mariota
    Lewan
    Warmack
    Walker
    Wright
    Bell

The four that would have to look to the bottom tier and likely would be backups:
Douglas (could see him as a 3rd receiver)
    Looney (probably a backup)
Schwenke (don't know, looking at the starting Cs there are a ton I have never seen or heard of before)
    Hunter (out of the league?)

DGB and Gallik are are rookies and Andrews have played very little so will have to wait until next year to properly judge.

So as I've said before, get a WR either FA or early in the draft (no projects) and G/C in FA or mid-round draft and this team will be vastly different.

Again, who cares if our guys can start for other teams who suck? It's about competing against playoff-caliber teams.

On any playoff-caliber team, you'd have Walker. Wright would be a slot receiver. I don't see anyone from the Titans OL starting.

Webster isn't getting it done. It's time to move on.

I really like those two. Aside from Mariota, Kendall Wright can get me excited to watch the team. I think Wright with less of an emphasis on him by the defense due to other targets the defense would have to worry about could be an incredible second or third option (Probably third). Wright would be the perfect slot and could do similar things that Wes Welker did in his prime. If they can hold on to him it would be great. The salary cap makes the teams do funny things. Case in point, Chip Kelly's roster turn in Philly prob caused by the salary cap.

I'd add that hitting on a 5 or 6th rounder who starts on our team (but wouldn't on another) in no way neutralizes the devastating effects of missing on 1st and 2nd rounders. Anybody that is touting that is muy loco.

Its not just that, its that each year, Webster has given up picks to move up and draft guys like Hunter and DGB. Like he wanted them so badly that he made moves to get them. hind sight is always 20/20 i mean, we can take a look at drafts and point out who we passed up vs who we drafted and kill ourselves over it, and thats not fair to do to webster, however, our team had very distinct needs and was devoid of talent for several years, and he is trading up for projects consistently.

We need someone as a gm who can fill a roster with people who might not make them look like a genius, but when drafted in the first 3 rounds, can contribute on some level to the team quickly. Webster seems like he has tried to "out think" people and hit on long shots so he can be a genius. If it worked out great, if hunter was a top 20 receiver, great, webster would be getting credit. Unfortunately, Hunter, even if healthy might not be on someones practice squad next year. Hes the dude that "cant stop jumping for balls he dont have to." The team has gaping holes at the same positions year after year, and that is on Webster. Sanky, Hunter, DGB, all high second round picks, all barely contributed this season. They didnt need to be heroes, but they should at least be able to get on the field and play the game, and even that has been a challenge for all of them.

    Webster failed.
