Look at Denver. They spend big in FA and make the playoffs regularly. They threw money at the defense last year and are dominating teams. Say what you want, FA and big names can & does change teams.

The key to it is not overpaying for average guys just because they are the best available. When you spend big, like Denver did, on proven quality playmakers; it changes your team. Before that big check they wrote on defense in FA the offense was carrying the defense; now it is the other way around.

 

THAT IS EXACTLY THE POINT!!! There is no play maker among the names you just listed. It is not the job of the GM to "try" it is his job to evaluate talent and improve the team. Webster CANNOT & HAS NOT done that.

The idea that you defend him by listing the players he has picked or paid that are not relevant (Other than Walker) is more proof that he absolutely should be fired.

You can't defend his actions. There is no way. The owners have publicly said, spend money, make something happen, improve this team. We are willing to do what needs to be done. The guy and the scouts he hires & controls, cannot evaluate players. Look at the oline. The wasted money & resources that Webster has squandered on a line that is still pathetic.

It is time for anyone who wants this team to improve to realize; Webster IS the reason this team cannot compete.

 

Who is more responsible in your opinion? Whisenhunt and his player develpmental skills or is Webster the problem for drafting players that had no chance to begin with?

 

I am not defending Webster at all....I think he needs to go. My point was that it isn't like he has spent all our draft picks on defense and that is why we have no offensive talent. We have spent a ton of draft picks on offense and he has missed and the coaches haven't coached them up. But I put more blame on Webster.

 

Webster is responsible for bringing in Whiz to start with. I don't think there has been a coaching staff here capable of developing offensive talent for years.

I blame Webster for drafting players based on potential. Especially trading up for a player like Hunter. He basically gave away a possible starter with that 3rd he gave up in that trade.

I also blame Webster for hiring Whiz, who has not developed an offensive player in his career. The players he has had success with; are players that have already been good. Bringing Whiz in to improve the offense was a stupid idea IMO. I hoped for the best & prepared for the coming fall. At least we did not stick with Whiz for years allowing him to do more damage. I would of given Webster credit for firing him. However, he did not have the guts to do it. Ownership had to step in and make the call.

It is time for new blood at the top of this franchise. We need a real football mind in charge of this team. We need a CEO, GM, & HC who know & enjoy the game of football. Without that desire for the game I do not like our chances. Sure a CEO can be just a money guy; but I believe a guy that wants winning football is the answer. A CEO that wants winning football and an elite team; will not have to worry about finances. If we play well the money will obviously be there.

 

Since your the brave one to start mentioning names I'll second that . Nothing like hitting nail right smack on the head.
