I hope Kelly doesn't become the next in line as coach. I think he would stymie Marcus's growth as a pro.

I love how the article talks about run blocking while showing several pass protections. If that confuses the writer, no question a playbook will seem difficult to understand. The stuff shown there is pretty basic, however if you get a chance to see an NFL gameplan you will notice the difference in complexity.

Is that guy using the fact that Kelly was given control over personnel as... evidence that he can't be fired?

    Huh?

Appearing on Sirius XM NFL Radio, ESPN's Adam Schefter said "momentum and signs seem to be piling up against a Chip Kelly return to Philadelphia."

Schefter added that the two sides are "sick of each other." The Eagles have greatly underachieved this year, compiling a listless 4-6 record while playing in arguably the league's worst division. His offense has been particularly disappointing as the Eagles have averaged just 22.9 points per game, well down from last year's 29.6. A host of college teams will be interested in Kelly if he comes available this offseason.

People forget, Kelly made a name for himself, at Oregon, and his system worked pretty well before this year. He, like a lot of NFL teams, needs a marquee QB to run HIS system. I think he'll need to try and bring in someone like RG3 as a backup, in case MM8 gets injured. Trying to make Marcus a Pocket Passing QB might prove to be as disastrous as it was trying to make RG3 one.

Kelly knows how to use their mobility to keep defenses on their heels. He'll just have to be a bit more judicious about it, in the NFL. Pocket passers get injured just as frequently, standing in the pocket. Look at Romo, Bradford, and even MM8 was injured standing in the pocket.

Kelly won't do very well without a good QB to run the show. Bradford = Jake Locker, that's why I think Philly will be ready for a mutual parting of ways. I can see him coveting this job, because he probably has more to work with, than he does in Philly...especially on defense.

I do agree about him being given so much control over personnel. Not a good idea. On offense, all we need is to draft OT Tunsil and move Bell back to LG (let Poutasi be the primary backup at OT and OG). Then draft RB Henry or Elliot, in the 2nd Rd

I do not Kelly. He did well in his 1st year because teams did not know his game. Now that teams have adjust to him, he is not accomplishing much. It did not help that he traded away all of his offensive play makers.

Kelly did well in Oregon with MM8. I believe that if Kelly comes here he will hurt the development of MM8. I think Mariota has been playing very well from the pocket. I wish he would use his legs a little more. He is fast and can make first downs with his legs. I would rather he make plays from the pocket, but do not want to hold him back from running. I feel like Whiz was dead set against him running. I honestly believe Whiz had told him not to run unless he absolutely had to. I think Mariota has good instincts for when to run. If the coaching staff does not interfere with that I believe he will make more plays.

Don't get me wrong. I do not want him rushing for 100yds a game. It's just too risky in the NFL. Even if he slides there are still chances he gets hurt. I know plenty of QBs get hurt in the pocket every year. However, most of those guys are immobile QBs who are not a threat to run anyway IMO.

Whoever the HC may be I really hope they are smart enough to keep Mariota working from the pocket. He has made progress as an NFL QB. I hope our next HC sees that and plans to keep it going while utilizing his physical gifts more as well.
