I was a young kid playing it, and I don't even recall if I even got that far, until adulthood. The riddles/puzzles in the game are just about impossible to figure out.

I didn't realize there were different endings depending on how quickly you beat it, until recently, either.

    Spoiler:
He dies in the good ending and bad ending, in the average time ending, he survives.

Unrelated note: my son (due in May) is going to be named Simon. Should have made the middle name Belmont. But only needs and people born in the 70s-80s would get it.

happy day for you, I bet. Name has meaning once again.

My avatar is from the NES game Simon's Quest (Castlevania II), from the late 80s. It got brought up in-thread, then you know the drill.

If you missed out on Castlevania, then it's sad. Because there were tons of cool games for past systems (NES,SNES, N64, Xbox/PS2) Starting at XB 360 it's kinda gone downhill, and not recovered much. But killing vampires is never out of style.

Hideo Kojima who is famous for Metal Gear also did a lot in this series.

Ahh I would not say it went downhill with the new consoles In general. Maybe for you, because you grew up.

A kid that grew up on 360 or PS3, sit them in front of a SNES and most likely they are going to be bored as hell after a hour.

I thought the Xbox 360 ones were OK, definitely worth playing. I played them through. They just changed the entire canon for those stories, and the ending was very weird, when it ends up in Modern day NYC or something. I just mean the momentum for the series has slowed down to almost a halt. It used to be a juggernaut in video games.

If they'd bring back Simon or one of the Belmonts into the story, and stop trying to reinvent the wheel, I'd be on board, 100 percent.

Gameplay-wise, they were fun, and technically much better than the old games (every new game is.)

Totally understand about the kid in front of a SNES. They're used to games with way more to them. I even find myself bored playing some of the old games. Today's games are immersive, they do the whole "imagination" thing for you. Back in the original castlevanias, you can't even tell what the hero's face looks like, if not for the sweet animated front cover.

You guys can go back and watch episodes of Captain N, The Game Master to see Simon Belmont as a cartoon. Good stuff. Yes, Castlevania is without a doubt one of the best games for NES and SNES next to the Zelda franchise games.

I love going back in time and playing these games again to see if age has made me a better player. So, I replaced the 72 pin connector in my NES and played Metroid to see how quick I could beat it. Still took me just over an hour to beat it using a map out of an old Nintendo Power magazine. Damn the Mother Brain part is still hard as f*****!

I don't think anyone is to the level of butthurt here, since cams success or failure has zero effect on any of us.

Having fun? He can have all the fun he wants to. No-one thinks that he shouldn't. What he does is instigate response. He knows what he does and how he does it (in the face of opponents and fans) gets negative response. He does this on purpose. He's not enjoying his own success with his team. He is rubbing dog shlt into the opponents faces. If that is fun for him, then sooner or later a defensive player will share some of his own fun on cam. It will happen.

Like when they played the Titans and he was at the back of the endzone celebrating a TD and Titans players rushed him like they were mad? It's ridiculous that people hate him for celebrating good play. If he was taunting or doing something outside of the rules, the refs should take care of it. Other than that, he's celebrating and having a good time. No one here would have a problem if one of the Titans did anything Cam does only the Titans have had nothing to celebrate in years.

The Ravens took out CJ with no showboating at all. His due will come if he keeps acting like a clown......
