This is what I was looking for, so thanks for answering.

My guess was that most people are sure Mariota is a franchise QB. You certainly seem to be.

I might be the only on here who's not positive Mariota is a star. That's what I want to find out.

It's not that it's unlikely, it's just a bad idea.

Doesn't matter if he's a superstar or not... he appears to be the best QB prospect this team has seen in about a decade.

Maybe he still has a hang over from the Grey Cup this weekend

Yeah, but that's what I want to get at here.

Best prospect the Titans have seen in a decade is saying very little. We all know that.

Is Mariota already worth more than Goff (or whichever QB gets drafted first overall this year), plus a top-ten draft pick, plus a 2017 first-round pick, plus some good defensive players?

    Maybe.

I know it's an insane proposition. But I didn't have a good answer to that question myself, so I figured it might be a good test of how much people value Mariota at this point.

Am I "sure"? No. But I think based on what we've seen so far it's safe to say that there's a good chance he will be. And his ceiling is sky flippin high. If we had an even halfway innovative OC/HC I think he'd be playing even better than he has been. Also important to remember he has a crap OL and his best "weapons" (I use that term very loosely) are Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright.

But even if this is as good as he'll ever be he's still the best thing we've had at the position in 10 years. Maybe he'll never be a top 5 passer but he's plenty good enough to keep us competitive and win us ball games imo.

It's quickly rejected because it doesn't make any sense.

Before the draft last year, I was one of those who wanted us to trade back for a ton of picks.

Now that we've seen Mariota in action, there's absolutely zero logic behind a move like this.

I don't have the time to research it right now, but his 16/8 TD/INT ratio is one of the best all time for a rookie QB. Certainly a better ratio than Luck, Bortles, Bridgewater, Carr, etc as rookies... as well as pretty much every other QB in the league.

I think only Wilson and RG3 had better numbers as rookies. But the thing with RG3, he was running the ball all the time. Mariota doesn't do that. So I'm not worried about it.

When you consider the fact that he still has five games left, I like his odds of 25 TDs/10 INTs.

He's also missed two games and has done all of this with the worst OL in the league and the worst WR corps in the league.

He's the real deal. Only TWW2 thinks he sucks... But TWW2 thinks VY is better, so his opinion is irrelevant.

Appreciate your answer. I think I agree for the most part.

Just want to defend my first post a little. The difference in making the trade now as opposed to last year is that this time, the Titans could (theoretically) get the bounty from the Eagles and also get a potential franchise passer at #1 overall. That is a huge difference from what was on the table last year, and it's why I think the idea is worth discussing (if only as a test of what we think of Mariota, not as a realistic scenario).
