Personally I like no deadline. If a playoff team wants to sell out to try to win it all then I say let them sell out. Also allows the non-playoff teams an opportunity to unload aging talent for picks/young talent.

I'm down for whatever the majority wants though.

I don't really have an opinion on it now.

 

I do get that as a playoff team it would really suck to get bounced by a team that made a really big trade (or two) week 14 or something. But by that same token a big trade earlier in the season can also have playoff implications so I don't see a lot of difference. It's still a gamble as no trade is guaranteed to win you a championship. A team that is selling out has just as good of a chance of still losing and wasting top picks in the process as they do winning it all.

That said I do think a week 13 deadline is totally reasonable if that's what the majority wants.

 

I think there should be a trade deadline several weeks before the playoffs. That way, the playoffs won't become a contest between who can make the best deals with non-playoff teams.
