How much can we really credit him with "finding" Mariota though? Let's be real, Mariota fell right in his lap. How many GMs, in our situation at the time, would have NOT selected Mariota? I don't think many. Sure you can't just completely take away all credit for the pick. But IMO it shouldn't be viewed as some major coup by Webster. We were picking 2nd overall and needed a QB, badly. Winston went 1st so the selection was pretty much made for us.

Its been mentioned as fact multiple times that Bud hired Munch and Tommy Boy hired Whiz. Ruston wanted Zimmer.

That's disappointing. PK has actually been pretty sensible lately and willing to call a spade a spade.

So EVERY decision Webster has made wasn't completely terrible. Are we supposed to buy that as justification for keeping him around? Who cares about a 5th rounder that panned out when we have SO MANY 1st and 2nd round (and free agent) busts during his tenure. Even a broken clock....

Yea, I'm not sure why PK is backpedaling on this now. Drafting Mariota was so obvious once Tampa took Winston and RW shouldn't be credited for that. PK told a commentor that he could of traded out of #2 for a lot, but I think that would of only happened if Mariota went #1.

who really knows what trade offers Webster fielded, but I'm sure he had a few. I will admit that I would have been fine to trade down for a bounty of picks and let it ride with Mett. If Mett sucked then we would have extra ammo to try and get a QB this yr. I'm very very glad that that did not happen.

So I have to give Webster credit for picking him

Mentioned as fact by who? None of that can be proven to be fact as the people involved aren't going to run around saying they did/didn't want this coach or that coach etc. Anything said about who wanted who and who hired who is speculation or rumor.

He found our QB and LT for the next decade, most important positions on the team. just had his best draft and a pretty good FA period. I'm willing to give him another year.

Acting as if Mariota was the obvious pick is really odd, considering how the majority of this board did NOT want him. Yall would have been down his throat if Mariota had a locker first year. Then to turn around and say how obvious it is... OK.

VY was "obvious" but we still hate Adams for that.

I agree with this guy, he deserves another year.

Watch, if we got rid of him, he'd move on to another team and prove to be an awesome gm

OK keep it real, keep it simple.

Are we better off as a team since Webster has been GM? No we are far worse. We've failed on coaches our record has been near league worst and we still have the same issues in personnel (except QB) we've had during his tenure.

Just what HAS he fixed other than QB since he's been in charge? He's on his 4th year, 3rd coach and we're looking for our 4th. A good GM has vision and the skills to make it real. Webster has shown us he does not have either.
